On Oct. 25, six weeks after the worst terrorist atrocities in our history, the United States was bombing Afghanistan, Colin Powell was discussing a post-Taliban government, investigators were grappling with anthrax in the mail, and federal agents were . . . well, they were going after pot smokers in California. If John Ashcroft had been around during the Chicago fire, he would have been handcuffing jaywalkers.

Do gambling addicts ever steal from other people to feed their habit?
Common sense tells YOU ... that's true. It may or not tell me.
If you wish to know my position ... it is that the WOD isn't working. The medicine is worse than the cure. You don't kill the patient to cure the disease. So, I believe you agree to this point ??? Am I right ??? If so, then what do we do to fix the problem ??? I'm asking you what you think, I'm have no hidden agenda in asking I really want to know if you were king today how would YOU solve this problem?
OPPS I meant to say the cure is worse than the disease.
I was lurking whilst you were fighting with Free_tally clamper1797 armitage and tpaine. I hope they are all your friends. Flame wars CAN be brutal
"Yup, apparently drugs aren't harmful. LMAO"
Yep, when you are called on the wild claims, out comes the sophomoric, inane wisecrack, as above.
We all agree drugs are harmful. And the result of their 1913 prohibition is even more harmful, to our free republic.
-- 'Laugh your ass off' at that fact.
I thought you were reading this thread. I already said. Legalize pot. Jail time for dealers, mandatory treatment for users. No unconstitutional measures to snoop. No therman scanning, no no knock raids, no "know your customer", nothing like that. Just strict laws against the sale and use of hard drugs.
You never put your position in one clear well thought statement ... till now. I have very little disagreement with your position, except maybe "use of hard drugs" that has to be defined a little more for me
BUT one other poster mentioned that you do write wise remarks -- and you did to me too by starting out with I thought you were reading this thread.
I'm pretty easy but IMO that is condesending and confrontatory. I don't think you know that you do it and it is. But that might be the reason why people come at you the way they do. Again, my opinion.
I see your point. I'm so used to posting to those that know me, I guess I just expect others to know how I mean my posts. As for my comment about you reading the thread, it was posted to be humorous. I enjoy ribbing other FReepers, for fun. Even when some debates get heated I tend to get more "smart" in my posts. But it is always in fun.
I understand, but please realize that it does set a tone and even your friends might not know when your joking and when your not. That might be evidenced by the way the discussion turns into a flame war.
But that is what makes it fun. Even with my friends. Debates aren't fun if everyone is polite and nice.
(blush)
I quit replying to Drug War threads several months ago. They're worse then the OS Holy War threads over in alt.Bill.Gates.is.an.alien.vampire.flonk.flonk.flonk over in Usenet.
You can find me in better Cheese/Moose threads Near You.
Thanks for the ping.
America, love it or leave it... what an original thought.
Islamic countries like Saudia Arabia practice the kind of drug control you have wet-dreams about, so why don't you move there instead?
