Possibly just poorly described. The "crew capsule" of the B-1A was replaced with individual seats, but I believe the pilot has the ability to fire all of the ejection seats. That may be S.O.P., I don't know. Makes sense, though.

Four individual seats if Pilot is in auto and pulls the ring all other seats in auto go. If in manual it stays

I agree with ya Kryptonite! I used to work on F-15's and F-4's when I was in the USAF and we always made sure that the ejection seats had the safety pins installed before we did anything. After all the seats are a rocket!

The same kind of problems that can occur during any kind of close formation flying. Couple that with the fact that you are connecting two aircraft together and pumping thousands of pounds of volative jet fuel between them. Most pilots state that this is the most difficult part of any mission.

We lose more than 40,000 people/year to auto accidents. BTW the B-1B uses 1970's technology. Your basic IBM PC running DOS with 640K memory is more up to date and has more memory than the computer that does the bombing on the B-1B.
