Fox news Linda Vester keeps reporting they eject as "a crew". So I'm gonna hope she is reporting accurate information. In fact, I pray to God she is right!!

Sorry for the typo, should read "how deep the water is".

What kinds of problems can develop in mid-air refeuling?
To: Vets_Husband_and_Wife
I pray it's so, too, but outside of Jane's, journalists don't seem to have a very vast education regarding military hardware.

He was there for a couple days afterward & said it was, hands down, the most boring place on earth! And I thought it was being in bed with my ex-wife.
Nope... *grin*...

Possibly just poorly described. The "crew capsule" of the B-1A was replaced with individual seats, but I believe the pilot has the ability to fire all of the ejection seats. That may be S.O.P., I don't know. Makes sense, though.
To: Vets_Husband_and_Wife
Four individual seats if Pilot is in auto and pulls the ring all other seats in auto go. If in manual it stays

Why isn't Fox reporting this....Thank-God, hope CNN is right.

The guys who test those things, especially the first ones, are incredibly brave.I agree with ya Kryptonite! I used to work on F-15's and F-4's when I was in the USAF and we always made sure that the ejection seats had the safety pins installed before we did anything. After all the seats are a rocket!

"What kinds of problems can develop in mid-air refeuling?" The same kind of problems that can occur during any kind of close formation flying. Couple that with the fact that you are connecting two aircraft together and pumping thousands of pounds of volative jet fuel between them. Most pilots state that this is the most difficult part of any mission.

DEFENSE DEPT. REPORTING THAT ALL FOUR CREWMEN HAVE BEEN RESCUED

This is unacceptable with the technology we possess!!We lose more than 40,000 people/year to auto accidents. BTW the B-1B uses 1970's technology. Your basic IBM PC running DOS with 640K memory is more up to date and has more memory than the computer that does the bombing on the B-1B.
