OK..I'm wondering now...What is the purpose of these strikes? Although they are horrible and are killing innocent people, there is no way that they can eliminate Israel as a country. Is this the Hamas leadership trying to oust Arafat? Is this the terrorist groups hoping for a retaliation/all out war from Israel in order to gain support from the UN/world? I don't see the strategy...

I think they want to try to force the UN to place troops on the ground. Isreal doesn't stand a chance with UN troops protecting them.

There is no purpose other than killing. You have to understand: Islam is inherently irrational. It teaches its adherents to kill all who won't convert, despite the fact that a conversion at gunpoint is not a conversion at all. Further, it teaches bigomy, wife-beating, and pedophilia: Mohammed wrote that a 9 year-old girl was his favorite wife. The Koran tells husbands to have a whip ready if their wives are disobedient.

To further bin ladens call for a world-wide war that would pit Muslim against non-muslim. They are already fighting this war, and will continue, whether anyone fights back or not.
