UPDATE: Passengers Being Let Off Plane At Sea-Tac
SEATTLE - Passengers on board Eva Air Flight 32 are now being allowed to deplane. They were originally held on board due to a smallpox scare.
Earlier, the Newark, N.J.-bound plane was been sealed off after U.S. Customs officials in New York received an anonymous tip that the inbound 747 from Taipei, Taiwan had someone on board carrying smallpox, Port of Seattle officials told KOMO 4 News.
Health officials have evaluated the person on board who was said to have the smallpox, and say he does not exhibit any signs of the virus.
Those passengers who were supposed to debark in Seattle will be allowed off the plane. Those who were to continue on to Newark will stay on the plane.
No word yet as to the fate of the person who was said to have the disease.
