Has anyone besides me been wondering about the rash of 'disapperences' of bio-tech scientists that've taken place in recent weeks. From what I understand, the Russian plane that was 'shot down' over the Black Sea was full of scientists and then another one disappeared from his car a few days ago, on a bridge somewhere in new england. Guess there've been more, too. Too tired to go look for the links. Help, please.
yah alot of scientists have disappeared or died and I don't know Why but would like to!
I hope you're right, but one thing to remember is that if the person was a terrorist, the fact that they know they are infectious wouldn't hinder them from getting on a plane.
In all fairness though, we know almost nothing about the person that was checked, so I guess the wisest thing for us - meaning those of us that wouldn't be able to do anything about it anyway - to do for now is to wait and see what happens.
So far, I haven't seen much here to make me that anxious about it yet. Even if it is true, the fact that we know about it so soon means it can probably be contained quickly.

That was exactly my question--it sounded from that KomoTV news report as if they were simply letting him go as well, but they didn'specifically address him. That may have been updated by now--in fact, I'm sure it has, but they better not let him go free until they can determine for sure that he isn't carrying smallpox.
Thanks for the clarification--that's exactly what my pharmicist friend told me, that at that point in the infection when they are first contagious, even though the person doesn't have lesions, they're not going to be in any condition to go anywhere outside of their homes or even outside of their bedrooms...they're simply to sick to do so.
But I am wondering what they're doing with this guy who showed no symptoms but who was indicated in the tip.

The last outbreak in Yugoslavia the man that spread it had been vaccinated previously. He was sick, but walking around.
If the Russians were messing around with variations on the virus, is is possible to change the incubation period, or when it becomes infectious?
My guess is that these are unknown variables.

In one of the last outbreaks in Yugoslavia a man who was vaccinated contracted small pox, did have a fever and aches, a low level form of the disease, but he recovered without even knowing he had had small pox.
His case, where he had no idea he had the disease, ended up causing about 250 cases, including a number of fatal ones.
That was 1972 in Yugoslavia.
You were correct that there would be symptoms of one sort or another, but your discussion is seriously lacking in substance or analysis.
