We spent the night in Brevard NC I have a friend in the area. The night we were there the whole town turned out for a square dance on the main st. It was charming.

Try nearby towns of Saluda and Tryon NC too...friendlier, milder climate, less remote. Much more convenient to big city needs in Spartanburg, Greenville, Asheville.
