Surprise, the western part of S Dak is relatively mild, certainly not anywhere NEAR as bad as Wisconsin, Iowa, Minn, N Dak etc....but if you don't like winter, obviously nowhere in SD is for you...

Maybe not mild for Texans. I see how you people drive with a little ice. Rapid City is not any colder than Albuquerque most winters. Generally you're seeing your lawn most of the winter, but can still drive 30 minutes and be skiing or snowboarding, or frittering your life-savings away in Deadwood. Another plus, we're not living in hell itself in July.
