JimRob can't be expected to police every thread. But the rank, appalling racism of some comments made during the discussion of the Adams Mark lawsuit really is quite beyond the pale. Your thoughts?

"Ever wonder why conservitives don't have rap music on thier boxes?"

Hahahaha You aught to come over to my place sometime! I listen to pretty much all kinds of music. From Mozart to Kid Rock, Hard rock to hip hop. Rod Zombie and Nelly, Dean Martin, Yes, ELO, BTO, Damn Yankee's... I like music and I am a conservative.
Its about attitude and sound, harmony and discord, power, love, pain, jelousy, raw emotion and clear thought... to define music is to see the color of tangy or to smell yellow and touch the stars.
If you listen to music because of a 'message' you might as well listen to a lecture. The best, very best Jaz can only be listened to in a smoky bar at 3am. Blues? If you there isn't something on the floor and you don't want to know what it is... It isn't realy the Blues its shrink wrapped. Not all Rap is racist, nor are all rap artists.
For a long time I didn't listen to Rap. I thought it stank. (Yo, Hip-hop a hippity hop and you don't stop)YUCK! It has evolved some, and much of it still needs work... That being said, Music is not any more racist than the people who write it.

...and if this gathering had been a few hundred males from Palestine, Egypt or Saudi Arabia, would the hotel be within its rights to treat them a little differently than a normal convention crowd? One man's racism can be another man's security measures.

You sir, are not a logical thinker and are no student of history. Slavery ended about 150 years ago. Between that time and 1960 black crime rates were very low, and the divorce/single parent rate was lower than that of whites. Now, logically, how would slavery that ended 150 years ago result in a boom in black crime and illegitimacy 40 years ago?

It didn't. But what changed? What was the variable here? Hmmm, what happened in the '60's? Civil rights movement? In a perverse way, yes. And yes, to an extent you are correct in blaming rich southern land owners, but not those of the 18th century.

Who fought civil rights most when the issue first was debated? RICH SOUTHERN WHITE DEMOCRATS, like Algore's daddy! Yet, when it was passed; who suddenly was the champion of black civil rights? These same rich southern democrats. How did they "prove" their loyalty to their new "friends"? By making sure as many of them as possible were on the welfare roles. Then by making benefits lopsided so that Uncle Sam was a better provider than daddy; but to get the goodies the mother had to dump daddy.

Just imagine how this destroyed the morale of the black father! Especially a young black father who hadn't fully achieved marketable job skills yet! Then they relived the father from responsibilities of fatherhood and gave him some crumbs from the dole; not quite enough to live on, but more than a minimum wage job at first. Then increased the minimum wage so that entry level jobs were harder to come by (jobs that would teach marketable skills); so much easier to just go on the dole and maybe do some shoplifting to suplement it.

To fully complete the destruction of the black community, they made sure courts went easy on criminals so that there wasn't either a carrot or a stick to tempt many black males into the legitimate work force.

Both logic and history require open eyes. I believe it is time you opened yours.

I travel alone or with my wife. Plus i don't attend confrences where large numbers of people are checking in all at once and they need to make sure people are moved quickly.

The exceptions to this is when i go to casinos, and when we go to some vacation resorts. I have yet to be helped with my bags while in Europe. Atleast by the hotel. I always use the same private hire cab driver in London and he comes and gets my bags from the hotel room when leaving and brings them up when arriving! His name is Mike. Though I don't think it is his real name. He is an arab looking guy.

Most black "leaders" are living in the 1960s. They've created a money makeing enterprise and they are gonna hang on to it.

They need to stop looking for a handout and start looking for ways to succeed.

Of course these leaders (Jesse Jackson, Sharpton, etc.) know what they are doing. They aren't seeking the betterment of black people, they are seeking the betterment of their bank accounts.

Your assessment of what happened to black culture, families, and neighborhoods, beginning in the 60's is right on. The "legacy of slavery" excuse is a base canard.

If you use term racism for everything from a bad haircut to someone looking a you. The term will lose it's meaning.

If they incur losses, they tighten security

Every businessman I know seeks to make a profit . They welcome customers whose business generates net profit .

The trick is to make your visit profitable for the business community .

Profit [or the lack of it ]trumps racism every time .

Your use of the word racist is wrong. You should be using the word "bigot" or "bigoted." There is a world of difference between the two. It's not just you though, it almost everyone. The word racist has become the default word in these cases. It truly no longer holds its meaning but is now the catchall word.

Racism is a believe that a race of people is genetically inferior to other races. Unless the hotel was acting upon a believe that blacks are genetically inferior they were not being racist, but bigoted.

I have yet to be helped with my bags while in Europe.

Probably just as well. In Norway three of us (the only travelers) checked our bags in at the SAS desk in the hotel lobby. They lost our bags between the desk and the airport bus. We saw bags loaded on the bus and knew ours didn't make it. Didn't care because we were going home. They were delivered several days later.

Islamophobia and anti-Arabism.

Oh, we should not be concerned about Islam? I thought we were talking about racism here. Bigotry is a bit bifferent than racism. Bigotry & Islam? After 9/11 I see Islam for what it is. And it's against all that is not Islam. So, I'd say Islam leads the world in the bigotry area.

I'm bigoted against rapist and pedophiles too. Yep, I'm a bigot in many ways. Oh, I don't like thieves either. Or people that don't wash their hands after taking a leak. Especially if they are making me lunch.

I guess you are corrrect. Some bigots here. But as far as what a persons skin color is? Who cares?

Now, hold it a moment. It is true that liberals abuse this, but that doesn't mean racism doesn't exist. It certainly does exist. Let's not create some sort of reverse political correctness.

It is not rampant as some liberals claim. And government's role in fighting racism is to do nothing but protect the rights of citizens. Government fighting racism CREATES racism.

Yep! My grandsons listen to rap music and dance like monkeys. I just tell them not to repeat the language I hear used; and women parts are not to be thought of like that. And We are in Mississippi!

By all means, leave aside this fact...because it's rubbish. Where on earth did you learn your history? Back issues of Southern Partisan magazine?

Though your reply above is to another poster, I feel compelled to respond. I have no idea where to find this information, but I bet it is out there. I would wager that MORE 'people of color' have come to America as free men than were brought here as slaves. If true, fnord's comment is true.

I have no evidence to back it up, but no one has presented evidence to prove it wrong.

That's not only logical, but explains the "over-crowded jails" hoax.
