Hillary Clinton takes aim at Arafat

NEW YORK (AP) -- Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton warned on Sunday that the United States would "root out" any terrorist elements in Yasser Arafat's Palestinian Authority -- just as the Taliban became a U.S. target for harboring al-Qaida.
"The same message must be sent to the Palestinian Authority and to Chairman Arafat: Anyone who harbors or turns a blind eye to terror in their midst will be held accountable," said the senator.
She spoke after a series of weekend suicide bombings against Israel killed 25 people and wounded nearly 200, prompting Arafat to order dozens of Islamic militants arrested.
But Clinton was skeptical, blaming the Palestinian leader for the violence.
"This rests squarely on the shoulders of Yasser Arafat," she said, adding that he has continually refused to round up and imprison terrorists.
"No one is safe because the leadership of the Palestinian Authority refuses to take responsibility for the acts of terror that have occurred with increasing frequency," Clinton told reporters at Manhattan's Pierre Hotel, where she was honored for her work in education by the American Organization for Rehabilitation Through Training.
The non-governmental ORT runs schools in Israel; three of this weekend's victims attended one of the schools, ORT officials said.
Clinton said Americans' outrage at the attacks is deeper since the Sept. 11 terrorism on their own soil.
She likened the Palestinian Authority to the Taliban as a protector of terrorists.
"The United States, with the president's leadership, has made clear that we will root out the al-Qaida network, and therefore had to root out the Taliban because of the comfort and support that they gave to the al-Qaida terrorist network," the senator said.
She was flanked by Malcolm Hoenlein, executive director of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations, who also attended the dinner.
"What the president declared for Osama bin Laden in going thousands of miles away to fight, Israel will have to do just a few miles away," Hoenlein said.
He said many of the attacks against Israelis have been carried out by terrorists from organizations financed and supported by Arafat. The American Jewish official said more than half the attacks were perpetrated by members of the Palestinian leader's security and police forces.
The United States, Clinton said, would target any state or power "that does not bring about law and order in the territories that it controls and does not take the necessary steps that are required to imprison and prevent terror across their borders."

The arrogance of this woman knows no end. From her kissing of Arafats wife and show of out right support when she should have stood up and walked out to the calling for a Palestinian home land IN ISRAEL, Hillary has show herself to be a liar of an unparralelled nature.

IMHO, this should be the straw that breaks the camel's back. One would think this latest display of such blatant hypocrisy would be what finally breaks through that protective coccoon she has in NY.
RLK touched on it in post #77. I've not read the articles throroughly as of yet, but he seems to make some good arguments.
I know the people of NY State are not stupid. I lived near Syracuse for about 15 years. My youngest son is a (gasp!) Yankee. The question I asked last night was "where is the outrage?" I just do not understand it. Someone asked "why should we care?" My answer is, if we don't she will be president one day. This proves she will do whatever it takes.
You overestimate the diehards. They do not want to analyze her. They just want to worship her. People who worship the likes of hillarrhea do not want to think about their idol's mistakes, and they don't. Heck, most of them won't even admit she makes them.
There are millions of people praying that she won't get back to the WH, by hook or by crook. If God has mercy on us, she won't make it.
Prayer can change things. I am an optimist on this one. Especially since al lost the gore-a-thon.
I feel the same. I cannot understand why God had allowed the Klintons to be born, knowing their evilness and destructiveness from eternity. Nor can I understand why He allows them to live, promulgating lies and deception. How I long to watch Him tear them down--which I know He will. They are evil and mock Him. Judgment day will come. I pray quickly.
Buh-Bette! went on to say,"How stupid is THAT? How can you sell pardons if you never arrest anybody?". She then asked the reporter,"Did you know I am part Jewish? No,it's true! I had a aunt that was married to a Jew at one time! Oy Veh!"
That's probably the basis for her hatred of Arafat,jealousy. Arafat has a pretty blonde trophy wife,and Buh-Bette! is steamed that she can't have one too. Maybe she figures if she can get rid of Arafat,his wife might be up for sale?
And what she is selling is being bought. Notice how she basically just gave statements,and didn't answer any questions? Ever heard of ANY other politician a reporter would allow to get away with that? Especially a female reporter trying to make a name for herself?
I've not met a soul in NYC - including black women I know - who think she is anything but a trailer trash sophist.
Nope,not gonna happen. She KNOWS she has the NY Jewish vote locked-up. That train ain't going anywhere.What this is about is setting the stage to get contributions nationwide from Jews and fundamentalist Christians who blindly support Israel so that she can finance her presidential campaign. It'll work,too.
