By the way, I've always had pleasant service from Cox here, even though I've had to call then more than should be necessary. They've been upgrading the cable so my connection has gone out from time to time, but they gave internet subscribers free basic cable through Dec of 2002. A nice gesture. The 29.95 is about half of the 49.95 for DSL.
They are apparently not involved with ATT@home or excite@home, except for web page hosting.
They used to be TimeWarner, then MediaOne Roadrunner, now ATT Broadband. I guess it's all about where they came from that decides which servers they are connected to.
By the way, I could never give up my cable modem connection even though I can't stand the customer service at ATT. I consistantly get download speeds of 900K to 1.5M. There is no home DSL package that can do that for 40 bucks a month. Not even close.
Current situation for Comcast customers.
