I just sent some money via PayPal from an old monitor that I sold which I received at no cost. Maybe, someday we can have a FreeRepublic Auction. Just sell old stuff and make donations from the proceeds.

Thanks for the money! After this fund raiser, you might ask John Robinson about an auction. They can bring in the icing on the cake after you bake the cake (monthly donations and the quarterly donations!)

I just joined the Gang of 5,000 and happily paid my dues for this quarter.

If the Gang of 5,000 (the term I prefer) or the 5,000 Responsible Freeper Club, or whatever it winds up being called, is actually formed, I will proudly wear my cyber-pin -- whether it is a colored handle display, or an icon attached to my screen name or whatever.

An excellent idea, which might be used to fund special projects, such as a new stable of computers when Free Republic outgrows the ones it's using now.

A Freeper White Elephant Auction -- such a deal! Who knows what I can buy if all these Freepers dig those albino elaphantine knick-knacks out of their attics. Maybe eBay would cooperate and designate a special area for this. It would help them attact more traffic and spare FR from having to manage the software end of things.

And my money would go to support FR. And, I'd have those gifts available for Aunt Tessie, and my mother-in-law, and that weird cousin who wanders into our part of the world every third or fourth Christmas.
