Alas, much of Harrison's work is out of print. You might also look for "George Harrison, Live in Japan." It was a live performance double CD with his friend Eric Clapton and band. Released about 1993 +/-

I love you, George and will miss your big, warm, toothy grin! R.I.P. my beloved Beatle! Thanks Ivan for the post!

I am so sorry that your brother is gone...and understand so well. My younger brother's favorite band was the Beatles, and I, the big know-it-all sister told him "everyone likes the Beatles. You need to find something else besides them to like"...About 10 years later he was killed at age 23, on his way to visit me out West. We played several Beatles songs at his funeral. "Here Comes the Sun" still goes straight to my core everytime I hear it...today, not only do we continue to grieve for our brothers, but for George, too, who was there for us in our past times of grief...

"Do you like Dylan's new album, "Love and Theft?" Unbelievably, I haven't heard it yet."
One of his best. If you go to bobdylan.com you can download a live version of at least one song from it. I've been fortunate enough to see him three times this year.
And you were fortunate to see Fogerty and Dylan play together. Fogerty is a favorite I've never seen.

Is anybody watching VH1's George Harrison coverage now? They said that George was amused by Frank Sinatra's introduction to singing "Something" in concert -- apparently Frank said it was the greatest song *Lennon and McCartney* ever wrote!

Rest In Peace GeorgeThanks for the wonderful tunes. God Bless George and his loved ones

Oh it had it's fans, no doubt. Elvis was big. And the various blues kings. The Beatles didn't live in a vacuum. But even the Beatles had their English detractors early on, saying rock and roll wasn't music, it was an American abomination that wouldn't last. I remember the controversy very well. The Liberace libel suit. Jerry Lee Lewis barred from Britain, etc. etc. There was a lot of hostility to the "youth music" on both sides of the pond and the Brits were especially vocal about it.

What a self serving comment. Ditto.

Thank you for your thoughtful and enlightened input. Our lives are surely richer for it. About as enlightened as George Harrison's music. You're welcome.

I don't get your attitude. It's not like we're talking about George Harrison's death on a war thread -- the headline clearly says "GEORGE HARRISON DIES IN LOS ANGELES". If you don't care about Harrison, and don't like the Beatles, why in the world did you 1) Open this thread, and 2) Feel compelled to tell us all that you don't care about it!

Aha! You might have a very good point there! So much for Mick!

I'm sympathetic to your loss but don't feel it myself beyond what anyone would feel for the lost life of a random stranger. No one cares what you don't feel for the loss of George Harrison or your precious little finger-wagging speech about smoking.
This is a thread about the early death of a man many admired for his contributions to popular music.
Your idiotic comments are useless.
I'm always amazed by the self-centered arrogance of people who jump on FR threads that are busy remembering a recently dead celebrity, celebrating their professional accomplishments, sharing memories of the departed person, and the 'intruders' feel it necessary to tell everyone how they don't care about the person who died. Idiots with an ego. Why not just skip the thread? Duh!

Like I said, I am only 34 so I am not of the Beatles era but I have heard about that controversial statement. Even I, having never been acquainted with the Beatlemania and antiBeatle critics, had enogh sense to realize the statement didn't mean what 50sDad said it did!

Any man's death diminishes me, because I am involved in Mankind;
And therefore never send to know for who the bell tolls;
It tolls for thee. But if a bell tolls while a solipsist has its head wedged up its clymer,
is there any sound?
The Beavis and the Butthead, they are always with ye, to tug impatiently at your pant leg, stomp their feet, and whine that they don't care.
This Buddhist temple where the Dalai Lama spoke lit by the full moon.
Yo Beavis
Yo Butthead
don't care about this.

I think George was permanently weakened by this attack. It probably made him less able to fight off the cancer when it returned. I am a huge Beatle fan, I had an LP collection as a teenager and my sister had many 45's when we were children, now I'm collecting them on CD, but after the break up, George was the best IMHO.

If I needed someone to love
You're the one that I'd be thinking of
If I needed someone If I had some more time to spend
Then I guess I'd be with you, my friend
If I needed someone
Had you come some other day then
It might not have been like this
But you see now I'm too much in love
Carve your number on my wall and
Maybe you will get a call from me
If I needed someone
I just really like that one. Catchy.
I'm nearing 40...AND I have two older sisters...so you can only imagine...
I had a Beatles renaissance in my life when I was in high school. (Must have been the disco.) I just loved them so much, and still do.
One wonders what it must have been to go solo and be known as "ex-Beatle" or "former Beatle" for the rest of one's career, but George seemed to take it in good grace.
He obviously had a pretty good sense of humor. He worked with the Monty Python crew, and there was a sense of low-key whimsy about quite a few of his songs.
He was a very talented man. I'll miss him.
There's a special on FOX right now...Billy Preston is going to be a guest.
