TBN Televangelists Buy $5,000,000 Home
Deception in the Church ^ | Nov.4,2001, page K15 | LOS ANGELES TIMES,

DITC Commentary: Ever wonder where all those "seed faith" dontations are going? Whose getting rich again? Remind me. It thought it was those people who sent in their seed faith donations who were going to get a "100 fold increase" and that they would be the ones buying luxury homes. What a shock to find out it doesn't work out that way! Duh!!!!

Televangelists JAN and PAUL CROUCH of the Costa Mesa-based Trinity Broadcasting Network have purchased a Newport Beach house for close to $5 million, Orange County Realtors say.

"...The American Constitution, of course, which provides for freedom of religion for *all* Americans, no ifs ands, or butts...

Nice try at deflecting the REAL gist of your hate -- Christianity -- it ain't working though.

Anyway, Mr. Adams, or is it Madison we speaketh to?

A) Whomever OR whatever you are, have a good time in providing evidence which supports your assertion that Christians do not concur with the first amendment.

B) The American constitution DOES make provision for enemies of the state (read terrorism in the name of 'Allah', espionage, foreign spies) to be executed. Dost thoust object?

Have a nice day -- BTW, sun still shining in Bagdad??

I wonder how Jesus would feel about a minister of the gospel pleading for money and then buying thousand-dollar suits and million dollar mansions?

Something about a millstone around your neck and tossed in the sea comes to mind.

I would expect no less from you in selecting a church to attend. You sounds a little snippy though. I would invite you to spend a day with a Catholic priest or a Lutheran or Methodist pastor and tell me what you learn. I won't be able since I have to work for a living to support my family of 10. You might find them to be very busy even at that. I suspect you might even find Zena Levay very busy for that matter. I was just responding to my general annoyance with denominations and party lines in doctrine.

He once had the gall to claim that on one particular night Yeshua, Jesus the Christ himself would personally join him on stage.

One could be forigiven for coming to the conclusion that these people must be atheists who found a good way to make a living, but then again, I doubt even a self-respecting atheist would do this. The scary thing is, these clowns may actually believe the crap they spew out, by becoming filthy rich, they see it as their just reward.

My son attended a Charismatic Christian School for one year. They had assured us that the speaking in tongues, etc. did not happen at school. They lied. The first month that he was there, they had a prayer service (because the basketball coach had been accused of recruiting) and my son said that they started literally bouncing off the walls. It really freaked him out. So, you see, these people may be able to slip into these states at will, but they cannot prevent themselves from doing it.

I am sorry if I sound snippy,I didnt mean to...but there are so many good men out there that pastor ...untill I became involved in a small church I didnt understand the burden....I used to tease my pastor that he was overpaid for 6 hours a week...But in the last year I have started to do some hospital visits with a visitation committee....it is very hard work.....very draining....and lots of travel time involved..I could never have guessed how hard it is...His calendar is booked solid..yet he finds time to come when he is needed.

I know there are lots of pastors that are not like that...but if it is a God call they are....we need to pray for them.

God bless you BW...I worked hard to raise ou family of 7 kids...now the house is empty and I can play on the computer and read books....and go buy new dining room chairs (that I did today YEA).....for everthing there is a season....

some 'religious right' Freepers who will accuse you of 'bashing all of Christianity' by your questioning the purchase of a $5M house

I'm a religious right Freeper, born again Christian. (I don't speak in tongues, never have and never want to, so I guess I'm really conservative.) I don't believe God calls all Christians to live in poverty or that none can be wealthy and live comfortably (we are each supposed to be good stewards, no matter our economic means). But I believe what the Crouch's are doing is morally and ethically wrong. That they have the means to purchase a $5 million home--well, it's beyond living comfortably. Jesus had no home of his own, Paul worked for his food building tents. So did the other disciples. It's kind of hard to be a role model to any Christian when you're so out of the realm of what the average person has: a modest income with average comfort. That's my $.02.

Eva, M'am?

First off; I don't want to mock this subject or be disrespectful in any way to you or your boy's school; howeverrrr...these people in-question?
The ones under discussion & being discussed here?
The two characters who just went out & shagged themselves a $5x106 house on oceanfront property located within the burg called, Mailbu, California?

I feel extremely confident telling you, that these people are not *Charismatics* or possessed of any other spiritual, psychic, or paranormal phenomenon whatsoever.

...other than abject greed, M'am.

While you criticize freedomson for calling a spot a spot, how do you know what Hinn's personal beliefs are? I judge a tree by its fruit, and Hinn has been shown to be a fraud, and he lives and acts like a fraud, and it is a Christian's duty to point this out. You seem to want to share in whatever fate Hinn has in store.

Don't worry, if you support him, you assuredly will.

The lady with the pink hair is really wierd looking, but hey! Why would we take as fact that she and her husband are buying a 5 million dollar home? The link does not take you to the Los Angeles Times, so how do we know this story was actually reported on it's pages?

I wish people here were more discerning.

But I am telling you that I knew a woman who worked for their television station, who was not a member of their congregation and was not at all supportive of their ministry. She told me in confidence that these two were Charasmatic and that they didn't want to be seen on television in that state. As a matter of fact, there is a passage in the Bible that deals with speaking in tongues, and it specificly directs followere who possess this "gift", not to do it in public where non=believers will see them because they will be skeptical and frightened.

I don't know what happens when people do this, but it's definitely weird. But in half-hearted defense of these two specific weirdos, they did own a large property in Orange for a very long time, which has probably appreciated to a multi-million dollar figure and were said to live quite modestly. But then, I haven't lived in CA for well over ten years.

He has done much harm and what is worst is that he did this harm in the name of Jesus and only God can forgive him for that.

This is exactly what it means to take the name of the Lord in vain. Exactly.

I simply don't understand people like Jan Crouch! First of all...I can't stand to hear her talk...that sweet soothing voice has the opposite effect on me. have you ever heard her story about how God healed her baby chicken? That's right folks...she had a baby chick that was either run over or very sick (can't remember) and she prayed for God's healing for the chick...and He did! According to Jan...He brought it back to life!!!!

I am amazed that she would think that such extensive cosmetic surgery (she's been lifted so much that pretty soon she'll have a beard if you know what I mean) could bring people to Christ. What the heck is she thinking!?! What's the rationale!? Sorry...had to vent.

Eva?
I forgot to tell you one more thing...
It's kind of important & especially after we as a nation have just *endured* eight long, hard years of the lyingest snake the Republic's ever know?
That *thing* is: it's once again safe, for the most part, for us all to again start believing our own eyes.
And that means the old *tried-n-true* country-wise saying for these kind of matters may once again be confidently applied, whenever we're in any doubt;

"If it walks like a duck?
Sounds like a duck?
Looks like a duck?
It's a duck.
"

...really. :^)

I hope I don't get into trouble for posting this, but it seems VERY appropriate...

TO A CONTEMPORARY BUNKSHOOTER by Carl Sandburg

You come along. . . tearing your shirt. . . yelling about Jesus. Where do you get that stuff? What do you know about Jesus?
Jesus had a way of talking soft and outside of a few bankers and higher-ups among the con men of Jerusalem everybody liked to have this Jesus around because he never made any fake passes and everything he said went and he helped the sick and gave the people hope.

You come along squirting words at us, shaking your fist and calling us all damn fools so fierce the froth slobbers over your lips. . . always blabbing we're all going to hell straight off and you know all about it.

I've read Jesus' words. I know what he said. You don't throw any scare into me. I've got your number. I know how much you know about Jesus.
He never came near clean people or dirty people but they felt cleaner because he came along. It was your crowd of bankers and business men and lawyers hired the sluggers and murderers who put Jesus out of the running.

I say the same bunch backing you nailed the nails into the hands of this Jesus of Nazareth. He had lined up against him the same crooks and strong-arm men now lined up with you paying your way.
This Jesus was good to look at, smelled good, listened good. He threw out something fresh and beautiful from the skin of his body and the touch of his hands wherever he passed along.

You slimy bunkshooter, you put a smut on every human blossom in reach of your rotten breath belching about hell-fire and hiccupping about this Man who lived a clean life in Galilee.
When are you going to quit making the carpenters build emergency hospitals for women and girls driven crazy with wrecked nerves from your gibberish about Jesus--I put it to you again: Where do you get that stuff; what do you know about Jesus?

Go ahead and bust all the chairs you want to. Smash a whole wagon load of furniture at every performance. Turn sixty somersaults and stand on your nutty head. If it wasn't for the way you scare the women and kids I'd feel sorry for you and pass the hat.

I like to watch a good four-flusher work, but not when he starts people puking and calling for the doctors. I like a man that's got nerve and can pull off a great original performance, but you--you're only a bug- house peddler of second-hand gospel--you're only shoving out a phoney imitation of the goods this Jesus wanted free as air and sunlight.

You tell people living in shanties Jesus is going to fix it up all right with them by giving them mansions in the skies after they're dead and the worms have eaten 'em.
You tell $6 a week department store girls all they need is Jesus; you take a steel trust wop, dead without having lived, gray and shrunken at forty years of age, and you tell him to look at Jesus on the cross and he'll be all right.
You tell poor people they don't need any more money on pay day and even if it's fierce to be out of a job, Jesus'll fix that up all right, all right--all they gotta do is take Jesus the way you say.

I'm telling you Jesus wouldn't stand for the stuff you're handing out. Jesus played it different. The bankers and lawyers of Jerusalem got their sluggers and murderers to go after Jesus just because Jesus wouldn't play their game. He didn't sit in with the big thieves.
I don't want a lot of gab from a bunkshooter in my religion.
I won't take my religion from any man who never works except with his mouth and never cherishes any memory except the face of the woman on the American silver dollar.

I ask you to come through and show me where you're pouring out the blood of your life.
I've been to this suburb of Jerusalem they call Golgotha, where they nailed Him, and I know if the story is straight it was real blood ran from His hands and the nail-holes, and it was real blood spurted in red drops where the spear of the Roman soldier rammed in between the ribs of this Jesus of Nazareth.

Actually, there isn't. The cloven tongue, spoken of by the prophet Joel and described on Pentecost day in Acts 2:

2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
2:5 And there were dwelling at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven.
2:6 Now when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together, and were confounded, because that every man heard them speak in his own language.
2:7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans?
2:8And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born ?

If it can't be understood, its not from the Holy Spirit, and its a fraud.
