Jim,
I am relatively new to the Free Republic, but find it stimulating, informative and a place for the conservative voice to be heard (even though we seem to be preaching to the choir - too bad we don't have some liberal/lefties here that we can engage in dialogue).
I think you should take the total budget for the year - say, $264,000, divide it into quarters, i.e., $66,000 per quarter. Then let us know what our share would be. Make it voluntary. For example, if $25 per quarter is the amount that would cover the costs, make that the voluntary contribution that each should contribute. Obviously some won't, so others will voluntarily contribute more.
We want to keep this forum alive, Jim, so let us know what we have to do to make that happen.

Can we buy shares of FR?

I'm relatively new to this forum...and love it. Informative, thought-provoking, straight-forward. No shrinking violets here, thank God!

It should either restate its goals / purpose, or shut down.

The genesis of the "problem" between Israel and Palestine began when Abraham had a child named Ishmael with his wife's, Sarah's, servant, Hagar, in accordance with the accepted practice of the times (even tho God had promised Abraham that he would be the father of the nation that would ultimately bless the whole world--Abraham and Sarah were getting on in years and, impatient, went ahead and had a child thro other means). Abraham's son with Sarah (his legal wife), Isaac, received the birthright thereby dissing Ishmael (altho God did not in any way turn Ishmael away). Ishmael is the father of the greatest enemy of Israel.
I read nearly 100 posts on this thread before I realized I was reading posts from November of 2001. Why is this thread still alive??

Steiger's Law": "People involved in a structure spend more time and energy maintaining that structure than in working toward its goals." Thanks. I'll file that one FFR.
Here's one of my favorites:
"Cole's Law: Cabbage; finely chopped, mayonnaise, lemon juice, and pickle relish; 1 tsp."

THANK YOU, JIM !

I just started to become a regular here and it is one of the best information sites available and I know that many people use it that may never post including well known conservatives.
I just recently made a donation and will make another one when I get caught up on some of my automobile costs, lol.
But I hope it can keep going. Jim and the gang have done a great job and continue to do so.

there's so much to say about this place, but it's late,
so may it suffice to say that FR has truly become part of my life.

Like I said above, if it is time for Free Republic to go away so be it. Those who want to keep it going speak up. Those who want it to go away, tell us why. But if those who want it to be gone lose out in the debate, then I'd say they should just go away themselves, or, in the very least, shut up and quit whining about it. Oh, for pete's sake! I can't believe I'm hearing you take these twits seriously.
If I were in your shoes, they'd have to prove to me that they weren't just jealous because they didn't think of it first, and can't write software, before I'd even bother to listen to them.
Frankly, I'm surprised you even bother to *ban* them. They probably LIKE that; it's the most attention they've gotten since their mommy threw her empty whisky bottle at them at age 4 (and they didn't deserve the attention on *that* occasion *either*).
I don't even **CARE** if you're getting FILTHY RICH off this site. Worse yet, now that there are a bunch of no-life LOSERs *whining* about it, I HOPE you're getting filthy rich off this site. WHO CARES.
Liberals HATE this site. It has a howlfulness rating of 349 megaReagans. That's all *I* care about.
In fact, if you're NOT getting rich off this site, I think you should start TRYING to get rich off it ***JUST*** so you can FLAUNT it at them, the way Limbaugh does.
Frigging weasels. I can't believe it.

btw, had anyone pinged Arthur to this thread yet ?
