Is Free Republic a Fraud? Is it time for Free Republic to go away?

One of the big reasons to give money to this place is to make it available to others out there in search of just this kind of forum. Contributions are like building a bridge between Haves and HaveNots in terms of information. Making it a pay-for-view site would be like erecting a toll booth in the center of the bridge.

Just out of curiosity, though, what has this to do with my point that those who voluntarily choose to use this site on a regular basis, should voluntarily choose to pay for that which they use, and voluntarily commit themselves to a monthly gifting arrangement, as I have suggested??

I am not suggesting anything mandatory...
...merely a point of honor.

A point which, it should be said, I believe many old-time FReepers already understand... and thus have voluntarily committed themselves to monthly support of this website -- a regimen worth emulating.

LATWP doesn't seem to have a problem with liberal websites posting "hundreds of full articles" AFTER mmmorron's ruling.

Their web geeks must have lost the ability to track direct links to their respective sites. An amazing feat, considering that 99.999% of the rest of the Net industry has improved and refined its ability to track such traffic in the interregnum. ;-)

My love/hate relationship with FR is a long, long story. What you are observing now is final unwinding of this long and sometimes tortured saga....I am really not self-absorbed at all. If I seem that way, it's only because so many seem to be absorbed with me.... I was thrust into the role of defender of free speech rights for downtrodden minority conservative sub-factions here on FR....I never wanted to be the center of some long running FReeper soap opera.

I haven't read something with so many references to "I" and "me" since Chelsea Clinton's Talk Magazine article.

i have lurked since the start, and perhaps nowadays say more than
