Daughter killed for not being a virgin anymore (Holland)

THE HAGUE - The local court in The Hague has sentenced a 40 year old woman from Dordrecht (initials F.H.) to a 7 year imprisonment for her involvement in the killing of her own daugther, Sudobee (16). The daugther was killed for having ruined the "Afghan family honor" because she lost her virginty.

The body of the girl was found, wrapped in blankets, on februari 16th besides a countryroad near Ouderkerk aan de IJssel, a town in South-Holland. She was strangled to death with a shawl. Police soon found out that were tensions in her family because the daugther, still living at home, had lost her virginity at young age. She wanted to leave her parents soon to move in with her (Moroccan) boyfriend.

The 41 year old father of the girl (initials A.H.) was convicted earlier to a ten years imprisonment, in accordance with the demands from the DA, for his share in the killing. THe court assumed that the mother did not participate with the strangling of her daugther. The court does hold her accountable that she did not invervene to prevent the death of Sudobe. Against the mother, the DA demanded 8 years in prison.

This tragedy has taken place in the Netherlands, where a lot of Afghan refugees live after fleeing for the Afghan civil war. They flee from a civil war, but start killing their own family once they are in a safe place. This is just the way these people "contribute" to the Dutch multiculture. We are forced to honor their culture, but if killing your own daugther for losing her virginity is part of that, we are better off without them!

  What strikes me as odd is the style of
reporting here.  To protect the confidentiality (?)
of the perps, only initials were used.  Why not just
use no names at all?    Giving out their initials isn't
really anonymity and what's wrong with naming
convicted criminals in public, anyway?

How about those severe sentences that these wonderful parents got, man I can see being pissed to find out your little girl isn't a Virgin but killing her is terrible. I don't think that anything short of execution for this crime is satisfactory, If I choked or hurt my little girl in anyway I believe I would eat a bullet from my own gun and deservedly so.

Actually, it did happen here. An Egyptian killed his teenage daughter in St. Louis a few years back. It was big headlines at the time. The wife went along, too.

No kidding. This is big in Jordan, too. Probably most Muslim countries, but I know it happens in Jordan a lot. I bring this up because Jordan seems to be the only Arab country where western values are not openly scorned by the leaders.

And my point is that neither got enough. If the issue was just the loss of family pride....marry her off to the boyfriend. Shotgun weddings and "early babies" handled the situation without killing anyone. This was their daughter for Pete's sake. I don't think I will ever understand "these people"...and if that sounds non p/c..so be it.
