don't belong in the top five

The Big 12 is the toughest football conference in the nation. While I think Miami is a great team, and historically a great team, I think they play pushovers who would always inhabit the cellar of the Big 12, Big 10, PAC 10 or SEC.

If they had to suffer the physical abuse week in an week out of these conferences, they'd be more believable.

In summary, east coast leagues are weak. I don't understand it, but it's true.

Historically, Miami doesn't play all pushovers. Think back to the years that they have played the likes of Notre Dame, UCLA, Michigan, etc. This year's schedule, which was made 5 years ago, included Washington, Penn State and Florida State. Is it Miami's fault that Penn State and Florida State had down years this season? This marks the 1st time since the 80's that Florida State will not finish in the top 5. Washington is perennially in the top 10 and has recently challenged for the national title. Penn State? Enough said. If all 3 of these teams had their "normal" season, Miami would arguably have played one of the toughest schedules in the country. I do think that Miami should abandon the paddycake Big East conference and either go independent or worm its way into the SEC...the SEC should tell the likes of Vanderbilt and KY to find another conference. Basketball be damned, it's football that pays the bills.
