In fact, over the past 20 years, the Big-12 has produced more National Championship teams than any other conference. Although those teams are either Nebraska (7), Oklahoma (3), or Colorado(1). Washington (3) is the only PAC-10 team to lay claim to a National Championship in the past 20 years. The SEC has produced 6 NC teams in the past 20 years. Second however to the Big-12 would be independent teams; Miami (7), Florida St. (6), Notre Dame and Penn St. (pre Big-10) each with 3. The Big-10 has produced 3 NC teams (Michigan (2) and Ohio State (1)) in the past 20 years.
