Actually, that is a real problem. An awful lot of cattle arrive at meat processors with shot in the flesh. I'm not sure if PETA idiots are doing it, or it is just drunk pheasant hunters. The bird shot penetrates the hide, burries into the flesh, then the hide heals over. When meat companies produce end products, they have metal detectors to pick up any bits of ferrous metals. The problem is, they do not set off when lead goes through. The sausage company near me is spending a fortune to tackle the problem. They are talking about high-speed X-Ray machines. I liken the problem to "spiking trees" to damage the timber industry.
