And remember Mud, though its rarely talked about on these threads because politics rather than business is more at issue here, the SEC has tremendous power and is not influenced by politics. It cannot be. Wall Street and its money will not let them be.
And where financial fraud comes into play, for any publicly traded company, the SEC has the power to freeze a company(ies) until every suspect transaction is FULLY revealed. They can and do act independently and have the full power in their own authority to throw people in jail. Their proceedings are also open to the public record. Because they are the authority and power behind the stock markets, cover-up is not tolerated because if it were, the investing public would lose confidence. Not just the "yous and mes" with our 401K's but the JP Morgans, Fidelities, Cap Guardians and others who manage the billions of dollars traded every day.
If all else fails, the SEC is an "ace in the hole" that will make the Royal Flush. Trust me on this one; it's where my expertise lies.
