When Bush was governor of Texas, he ordered plaques removed from a state owned building, and had it done at night, with no announcement and no explanation. The plaques simply read that the building was dedicated to the memory of Texas' Confederate veterans and that the money to build the building came from the trust established for the meager pensions paid out to the veterans. When all of them were finally gone, there was money left which had been carefully managed. The plaques were small and unobtrusive, but they clearly showed that once upon a time, Texans had carefully and honorably cared for money entrusted to them for the care of elderly veterans, and had taken such good care of it, that there was enough to build a public building with what was left over. Bush had them removed as though it was his privilege to do so.
Bush did this to appease the NAACP and the democrats. By doing this he proved that he didn't give a tin-plated shit about Texas history or the people of Texas. He's a resident of Texas and a professional politician, that's all. If he's a real Texan, I'll take mine rare.
