thanks for the reality check. i guess we need humor to deal with the attack, but we must not forget that others are in far worse shape and need our prayers and support.

thanks again

Bigger insult (if we take this to be Been Laden's current situation)... using a (too) small child as a human shield.

Like you, I have no problem with humor in this time. Nor with the death and killing of many of our enemies. But, there are many truly innocent victims. When I see that poor mother and what she is clearly enduring to protect her child, it is a dose of reality.

There are many Afghans who are worthy of our compassion.

Maybe so, but I'm afraid we are mowing them down by the hundreds even as I type. BBC World Service last night quoted refugees like these as saying our bombing of Kunduz, where there are supposedly 30,000 civilians trapped between the warring factions, was not really discriminating between military and civilian targets anymore. Enough of them in the Pakistani refugee camp had shrapnel wounds to convince the BBC reporter anyhow think they weren't making it up.

I don't blame our military; these poor people are just in the way, packed into a small area like sardines. And Pres. Bush has said, "We are all soldiers now."

Bin Laden in Drag, taking a clue from Jefferson Davis's experience? If that story is true...

Davis was in a "gentleman's dressing gown" according to General Grant.

Funny, most Afghan WOMEN have doffed their Burkas, now that the Taliban are Talibeens.

Or Talibanhasbeens. Actually, the burqa is traditional Afghani dress. It isn't required by the Quran, only the veil, after puberty has been reached, is required and then for modesty.

But on a side note, check out the size of the "woman's" fingers grasping the child's upper right arm. Awful burly meathooks for the fairer sex.

Looks like that burqa is hiding a beard to me. And the child has an expression of fear...not a look I would expect to see on the face of a child traveling with a parent. Are the border patrol people supposed to be on the lookout for a bin laden in drag?

I'm not saying our bombs haven't fallen on some innocent people, but who's to say some of those wounds were not caused by Taliban shelling as well? If some of those people were in villages where there were rebels or NA folks, the Tallies could have shot at them, also!

I am curious why this mother doesn't carry that child (possibly even under the cloth).
