1. Nope
2. Somewhat, but far from my primary reason.
3. This I don't believe either side of the debate has an argument for that can be proven (regarding how legalization would impact crime rates). So nope.

Hint: Search for a previous post by me on this thread. You may find some insight and discover that personally, I feel much the way you do with respect to many social issues, but have a different view as to how social problems or social ills should be dealt with. This is specifically why it enrages me to be called a druggie or any other name that an authoritarian like you believes me to be. The fact is, I am not. I am, however, pro personal responsibility, family, church, etc. etc. I don't want these things destroyed by the liberals who want to replace them with government, because government fails to address the problems that you are concerned with. I also fear the slippery slope. Liberal idealoges end up in power as often or more than Conservative ideologues. Hence, I prefer to keep the power at a minimum in order to protect my right to believe many of the smae things you do. Limiting governmental power also prevents the liberals from taxing us to death to finance all their failed social programs, which would be better dealt with through more caring entities than government bureaucrats. Do you even slightly understand this mode of thinking? Fear of the slippery slope and government intrusion which can impede my right to think and act as I do, which may be very much in line with social conservatives themselves.

In essence Douglas, you can consider me a Social Conservative with respect to my personalp lifestyle choices, and I sincerely believe that this would be the best choice for all. I don't believe the government can impose this on people though. So I am anti-authoritarian. I am a libertarian with respect to government.

An example you may be able to identify with: I don't want my tax dollars financing things like the putrid crap passed off as "art" which is funded through the NEA. We may believe in many of the same things, but I prefer to not have govenrment achieve the objectives for me, because government always stretches way beyond what was originally intended by those that conceded the power.

So you see, you need to stop with the judgemental assumptions with regards to libertarian thinking. We aren't all the filthy vile creatures you perceive us to be. Many of us simply go beyond the "easy answer" which is "pass another law" to end or alleviate social problems. Philosophically, we understand that this thinking is too simplistic and has consistently failed to achieve its objectives, while creating additional power that ends up being used against us all and eventually eliminates freedom altogether.

I am not on the extreme end of the libertarian spectrum. After all, we can't all live in the mountains. I do however, identify more with the "leave me alone" libertarians more than the "government can end all problems" conservatives or liberals. So please, stop calling me a liberal or a leftist. A leftist is usually a communists and liberal has been usurped by socialists (Nazis were socialists too), both philosophies that I absolutely abhor.

Okay, I'm sorry. You are not a leftist. You are one of those who do nothing while the leftists use conservative buzzwords to further deconstruct society so that they can instute a socialist system in America.

My apologies.
