By the way, if you scroll to the bottom of the exact html site you linked us to in post #116 you can click "home" (home page of jesus21.com), then click "Sex" (the page I posted above at #152). NB: from here you will find the link back to the Captain Kangaroo article featured by you in #116.

Well, doggone it. I was getting ready to post a response to L_Candide, and was really going to enjoy it. Then, when I bring the post back up, you've already bombed him. Nice, work, although you do have to admit, it's kind of like shooting fish in a barrel.

Oh, well, since I've already logged on, I'll go ahead and bomb the article a little.

First of all, one of the primary sources of the article is Avedon Carol, who runs the "Feminists Against Censorship" website, here. Among other things, they recommend the elimination of ALL pornography laws. Since they are British based, they specifically call for "abolition of the Obscene Publications Acts, the Video Recordings Act, and the Clubs and Vice Squad (formerly the Obscene Publications Squad and, separately, the Club Squad)". They also recommend "positive and accurate sex education for young people, starting as early as possible," This is code for access to school children. Anybody else here on Freep remember the Massachusetts debacle? If you don't, the link is here.

Okay, let's look at a quote, from Dr. Loretta Haroian, another "scource" for the article.

A society that encourages sexual competency rather than constraint and in which every man, woman and child can say “yes” or “no” to sex without prejudice or coercion. To encourage children to be sexual in a sexually repressive or permissive/ambivalent culture is to exploit their healthy sexual interest, as they will be left alone to deal with a double standard and the sex-negative, self-serving attitudes of peers and adults.
You can find her entire article on child sexual development here.

Now, let's go to the article itself. The article goes from stating that Alfred Regnery claimed it was a mistake to publish the article, although it gives no source for the statement. It then goes directly to a quote from Ms. Avedon, in which a professor from the University of Pennsylvania makes negative statements about the study. Although there is an implication that Dr. Reisman considers Romeo and Juliet to be pornographic, no quote is given to support this, other than a quote from a professor listed in Ms. Avedon's book. Of course, the entire section is designed to make the quotes of one professor through Ms. Avedon to be attributed to Mr. Regnery. The actual quote attributed to the professor is 'I wondered what kind of mind would consider the love scene from Romeo and Juliet to be child porn' My suspicion is that someone said, "Why you could apply these standards to Romeo and Juliet. What kind of mind would consider the love scene from Romeo and Juliet to be child pornography." If she actually made the claim, why didn't the author quote the part of the study where she made this claim?

The entire article can be torn apart in such a manner, but why bother? Just remember that the primary sources for the article are people that want to eliminate all pornography laws, and have full access to children, in order to help them "explore their sexuality." After that, there's not much left to wonder about.
