WKRN.COM Home > November 15, 2001 WKRN.COM Home BREAKING NEWS: Suspicious Substance Dropped By Air on Clarksville Email story to a friend Breaking News: Substance Dropped on Clarksville Clarksville officials are investigating a white powdery substance allegedly dropped from airplanes in two subdivisions in the northern part of the city late Thursday night. Hundreds of residents in two North Clarksville subdivisions, Northwind and Northpark, have been told to stay home until the suspicious substance can be identified. Hundreds of people in 180 homes were told to stay in their homes until officials could find out what the substance was. They were also told to turn off their heating and cooling systems. Initial tests indicate that the substance was not anthrax, but further testing will be done. 101st Airborne Parkway in Clarksville has been shut down since 9pm. The area is a couple of miles from the Fort Campbell military base. The Red Cross has set up shop in an elementary school nearby.
