Gross Weight is absolutely a consideration. The more weight, the higher the load factor on all components of the airframe.

Most accidents are not caused by one single thing but a combination of several.

Some chain of events or mechanical factors are usually the cause.

One more thing. Composites are great, very light weight, very strong... but they do not bend, they do not give. Strong, rigid, but when overloaded, they fracture without warning!
