Re: FDR and the German nationals, masquerading as Americans, provided with funds, intent on mass terror and sabotage. They were secretly tried by a military commission, found guilty and executed within two months of landing off their submarines.
The US Supreme Court ruled unanimously that the enemy who "without uniform, comes secretly through the lines for the purpose of waging war by destruction of life or property" is an "unlawful combatant" who is not entitled to access our jury system. quote from Michelle Malkin's article 10.24.01.
So don't think this relates only to bin Laden, but to any illegal alien caught in the US doing or having the purpose to do bad things. The only misgiving I have is: are we at war? Does it make a difference or has Bush just jumped that gate?
I agree this is about the sleepers in the USA, not about bin laden. As far as him jumping into this, I believe if the congress doesn't come up with an air security bill, the executive order will be signed at the ranch in Crawford Texas because even frequent fliers are avoiding the friendly skies and we want to know that there is bag matching, bag compression testing, background checks of all airport personnel, etc.
I think this Order should be printed in the paper and on the internet when it is done so that we can read it line by line except for the classified stuff. Dubya, draw up the Order - I'll decide if I'm ready to fly. By the way, I luv Dubya and his brother Jeb who wants folks back in Fla.
I beleive the incident to which you refer took place in June 1942. There were four teams of two sabatagors each landed at various locations on the east coast from Nazi submarines. Two were caught and given a choice-- reveal the locations of your accomplices and spend the rest of the war in a nice comfortable American POW camp or let us extract the information from you and share their fate. These two made the right choice and sung like canaries. The remaining six were hung and buried face down.
