Another unforgetable day in the life of President Bush as his attention was once again shifted to tragedy in New York. In a statement today, President Bush sent the people of New York City his "heartfelt sympathies" and told reporters it was "heartbreaking" to pick up the phone to Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and extend condolences. Earlier this morning, Bush met with South African President Nelson Mandela, who pledged his support of the war on terrorism.
For those of you in Rockaway, NY, our hearts and prayers go out to you, as well as to all the families of the victims of the AA 587. God be with you all.

Carville is fun to listen too atleast. You can just see the little rajun cajun about to go ballistic. He is like a cornered racoon, all his hissing and slobbering. I find it quite amusing.

I can't image what our world would be like right now if Al Bore was in office. Algore is a loony toon! He would be so busy reinventing himself every other week, trying to see if perhaps the American people would like him more if he shaved his head or pierced his nose. Terrorists would be running around unchecked, still hatching their deadly plots.

He looks so sad in this first picture - he really does feel our pain rather than just professing to. I hope he is taking care of himself - this whole situation must be such a strain on him. Does he still work out? Yep, still working out and running!!! Shows on that frame of his, don't you think????

Do you know what Terry McAuliffe reminds me of ?
He reminds me of a sleazy pool hall hustler who hustles little kids at the YMCA for their lunch money. This dirtbag McAuliffe is what is wrong about politics, he makes Paul Begala look like a moderate

I love Ari's press conferences. He's so patient and also has a good sense of humor. Typical of a member of this administration.
Also, I think he's handsome. Wonder what he'd look like with a full head of hair. Does anyone have the capacity to give Ari a cyber-toupee, just for fun?

Laura is down in Crawford, getting ready for the Putins to visit...

The loved ones of those passengers on that airliner are certainly in my prayers tonight. What a tragedy for them, and for those terrified on the ground, and for the crew of the airliner.
Thanks, rintense, for making this thread available every evening. The photos and all the posters are a delight, always!

I noticed how helpful President Bush was to Mandela as he negotiated the stairs, as you can see in the pictures. No self-conciousness...just natural courtesy for the elderly, which I have noticed with him before. He is a good man, isn't he? I actually (gasp!) got to see that on the evening news (NBC). I wonder where he learned to do that with such ease and grace, not making the other person feel stupid or incapable, but offering his hand at the right moment in the right spirit, giving just the right amount of support. If you have the gift of mercy, this comes more naturally, but I think he must have seen it modeled somewhere along the way while growing up. His mama and papa surely taught him to respect his elders (and obviously, he learned to be sensitive to their needs).
I have been trying and failing to picture a certain unnamed ex-president scumbag doing this.

Gee, Snow Bunny, what EXACTLY are you trying to say??? ;)
