Unless the Auxiliary Power Unit (APU) blew up, I can't think of anything 'conventional' causing that rudder loss.
That's it! THAT'S IT! The same thing that happened to TWA Fl. 800! Now to find that frayed wire that caused the spark that caused the APU to blow up...
