All of us are immigrants or the descendants of immigrants. I think the American public is generally against illegal immigration, but this country is made up of it's immigrants
Every country, save for Eden or somewhere in Africa (depending on your feelings about evolution), is made up of immigrants.
There were quite a few terrorist bombings around the turn of the century in the US, and the assassination of President McKinley (and other world leaders), done by Anarchists, and many of the anarchists were recent immigrants from Eastern and Southern Europe...Poles, Italians, etc. or the sons of recent immigrants (like McKinley's assassin) who were flooding the country at the time, much to the dismay of WASP Protestants who felt it was flushing the country down the toilet.
There was one excellent article on the web (can't remember where) that pointed out how similar the turn of the century anarchist movement was to both Al Queda and the recent Anti-Globalist protests and such.
I'm descended from Slovak immigrants who were (thankfully) not anarchists. I wonder how many of the ten thousand or so FReepers spouting the "intern all the ragheads" nonsense are descended from Eastern and Southern Europeans.
