Do they keep/store the x-ray images taken of bags at the airport? How long would it take the FBI to review those? Also, could they have determined something from seeing the televised pictures of the engine at the gas station being aired on FOX...maybe they have seen enough to make some conclusions.

Only a fraction of checked bags are actually x-rayed. You see, there isn't any terrorist threat to merit making you spend more time at the airport.
