Nice way to "hijack" an airliner from the ground too.

The advantage of fly-by-wire is that you can fly that thing from the control tower -- theoretically. Nice defense from hijackings.

Technology exists to authenticate wireless network traffic (e.g. RADIUS, going into Windows XP). That's to say, the plane's autopilot won't respond to anyone but the control tower personnel.

Any aircraft, theoretically, can be flow from the ground. Fly-by-wire has nothing to do with it.
