BOY! YOU'VE GOT THAT RIGHT ABOUT COLLECTING BAGGAGE AT BWI. I REMEMBER WHEN THAT AIRPORT WAS AN OPEN FIELD - MAYBE STILL SHOULD BE. NOT ADVOCATING BLOWING IT UP THO'.

DD, wouldn't a well fed Pelican sucked into the roters of an engine on an Airbus under strain (as in that infamous turn) cause the motor to disintegrate and send pieces parts into the fusilage and thus tear pieces off of the hide? ... Ingesting something as big as a pelican would definitely be bad news. That's a heck of a big piece of FOD - kiss that engine goodbye.
As to what it really is - I dunno. Anything I say would just be a WAG, nothing else.

exactly. but you would think sleeper maintenance folks would have to be pretty sneaky to not get caught. Unless these airlines are infested with them. Which would make sense if I was the enemy and time was my ally.I think they're plenty sleepy, and I also think the airlines are infested with them...

I hate to say this, but it would not take a large bomb to cause the explosion described by the eyewitness. One small block of with a tric 0988gger would do the trick.WELL, duh, DON"T say it then. I don't think we need to tell anyone what you think it would take to
DO THE TRICK. Admin...please remove replied to post. thanks

Anyone "important" on that plane?
Don't get me wrong about my use of the word "important", but could a passanger be a target?
I think it was shot down. The weapon went over the side of the boat. It will never be found, nor the person who did it, just like flight 800.
It worked for the terrorist during the Clinton admin. so it could work again if Bush doesn't investigate.
Let's hope the houses that were hit were empty. Everybody at school or at work. The schools here are open today.

What government official would want to make such a hasty judgment, before a very alerted public...Governor of California, Gray Davis reports that his private jet, has received a specific warning, that it has been targeted for attack. LOL.

WABC-TV -- Coast Guard and Police boats in Jamaica Bay. Police divers are in the water. Wonder what they are looking for?

Fox News just showed parts of the plane wreckage that look like a wing engine on the pavement at the gas station!
To: mwl1
If the eyewitnesses are correct about the wing falling off then this was NOT a mechanical failure. The wing is the strongest part of the plane. The fuselage is more likely to fall off the wing. If the wing fell off then it was broken off. This could only be done by a midair collision or a bomb.

ummm .. SOME smoke is always visible. Did they report it as UNUSUAL?

I meant to say, I think they're plenty sneaky, not sleepy! Sorry!

"And I'm flying to San Juan on Saturday. "
Oh how about this one: Thursday morning my fiance and I fly from atlanta to LA to get married. Our 100 or so guests are flying in from allover the country on Friday, we marry on Saturday, on Sunday we fly home to Atlanta and on Monday get up and fly to San Juan, and then from San Juan to Tortola. I will tell you one thing: I won't do one thing differently. I understand if my guests don't fly, but I intend to stay the course here...

ABC News radio reporting a pilot on plane on ground saw smoke from engine on plane at take-off.

I am sooo tired of everything and so angry about the airlines. Did you hear this? Bush just said the FBI believes that there was an explosion aboard the plane and they are investigating. Why New York? - I am already still shaking from Sept 11th and now this.

#464:
Not only sleepers there, what about sleepers in maintenance positions at the airports?Hold it a minute.
These 'sleepers' are most likely recent immigrants to America who are working at jobs Americans don't want.
Let's not start building walls around America.
