Take a look for yourself at Daniel 9. Use a KJV. Compare Nehemiah 1. They are very similar. Now what does Dan 9:23 say? Gabriel tells Daniel about God's timetable:
Daniel 9:23 At the beginning of thy supplications the commandment came forth, and I am come to shew thee; for thou art greatly beloved: therefore understand the matter, and consider the vision.
Then he goes on to give Daniel more detail. Now look what verse 25 says:
Daniel 9:25 Know therefore and understand, that from the going forth of the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem unto the Messiah the Prince shall be seven weeks, and threescore and two weeks: the street shall be built again, and the wall, even in troublous times.
The commandment of God went forth as soon as his humble servant Daniel started to pray. There's the key. Nehemiah 1 provides the answer. The date Nehemiah 1 began to pray [in regards to Jerusalem] was in the month of Kislev. Luke 4... after Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness he ends up in the synagogue in Nazaraeth. He reads the haftarah for the 34th Sabbath in year 3 of the triennial reading cycle (which begins in the month of Nisan, spring). That reading corresponds to the end of Cheshvan/beginning of Kislev. Jesus showed up right on time, Rosh Chodesh Kislev. "He hath annointed me" "He hath sent me". The 70th week is all about Christ. While many believed, halfway through these last 7 years he was crucified.
Daniel 9:27 And he shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease, and for the overspreading of abominations he shall make it desolate [cf. Lev 26], even until the consummation, and that determined shall be poured upon the desolate.
The clocked stopped on Passover, due to unbelief. Why won't it start ticking again where it left off? Only this time, it will be the apostate Church who 'crucifies' Christ. Look around at all of the merchandizing done "in Jesus' name".
And they knew not until the flood came...
