Either Britney Spears isn't aware that a war is going on, or that's what she would like you to think.
At a news conference in Toronto before a concert Monday, the 19-year-old pop icon was at a loss for words when asked whether she supported the U.S.-led military strikes against Afghanistan.

Keep this in mind for the future when she's stumping for some cause or other. She can't muster an opinion about the biggest story of the past 50 years, but she'll want us to think that she's an expert on global warming or overpopulation or some other complex subject.

The girl has 2 brain cells. They are chasing each other in a fight for supremacy. What did you expect? I don't look to pop stars (especially nauseating pop) for intelligent, well-informed opinions on world events.

I can see the blank look in Boobney's face as she tried to calculate the right answer in her head - "If I say yes, it might hurt foreign sales, but if I say no it might hurt domestic sales. I don't know what to do!!!"

I'm pretty happy with this response considering it came from a third-rate teenage pop star speaking about U.S. policy to what is essentially a socialist audience.

When her current gig dries up, she'll be able to find a home at Foggy Bottom.

I'm no fan, but I think her response here was totally appropriate. She's entitled to keep her opinions about politics to herself. Would that all the other pop celebrities know when to keep quiet.

Now wait a dog gone minute. She may be a millionaire, but she is only 19. And I would rather have a celeb who doesn't have a clue and doesn't volunteer it versus a Barbara Strisand who proves she doesn't have a clue every day by opening her big yap. Can't we pick on more deserving dip wads -- say like those two little sh!ts what's their names -- Damon and the other guy who went into rehab?
To: Bella_Bru
Yeah, that was my point, but you said it better.

I can see the blank look in Boobney's face as she tried to calculate the right answer in her head - "If I say yes, it might hurt foreign sales, but if I say no it might hurt domestic sales. I don't know what to do!!!" I think it was more like, "Oh my God, my publicist didn't tell me what to say to a question that isn't about my act or appearance. What will I do?" Or maybe, "What's an Afghanistan?" I don't think she's got the mental wattage to think about her sales in response to a question like that.

"She didn't elaborate, keeping the extent of her knowledge of U.S. foreign policy under wraps." Correctly stated, that reads: She didn't elaborate, conveying the ture extent of her knowledge of U.S. foreign policy.

The barometric pressure in her head is so low that she experiences her own personal hurricanes.
Dumber than a box of rocks, but way better looking!
Even Bob Dole doesn't need the blue pills when she's around.

Funny how when she was saying nice things about Pres. Bush, lots of people here approved:

Like, wow, but Britney is the NINTH MOST POWERFUL WOMAN in the United States according to Ladies Home Journal, like, Laura Bush is ranked only 29th and Condi Rice is like, "WHO?" Condi didn't even rank! No WAY, like her handlers must have forgotten to turn on her ear mike so she could be told what to say. Otherwise the NINTH MOST POWERFUL WOMAN in the United States would have something really deep to say, like, save the whales or something...

I think the appropriate response in that case would have been, "I prefer not to talk about that in this sort of forum." Someone screwed up in not anticipating a question about the subject and having a proper response ready.

Did Matt Damon comment directly on our military actions?
To: callisto
When somebody figures out what US policy is, please let me know.
Thanks.

The news here is that the Tribune Star should be embarassed for hiring such a numbskull reporter for thinking that Britney Spears opinion on global politics is actually worth writing about.
BTW, any pictures?

Not surprising. Like most Hollywood types, she doesn't know or care about anything that doesn't revolve around her exclusively.
I think the clinical term is
narcissism. It's a common malady among stars, but most do a better job of concealing it.
Ask her about her hair, her new record, or her latest boyfriend and she'll respond coherently.
Ask about anything outside of her self-centered world and you get a blank look.
