Many times these RINO's move quite a bit to the right once they're elected. They deal all the time with the Republican Party, fellow Republican mayors and governors from around the country as well as the President himself. Sometimes, something rubs off.

For Exhibit A on that, look at Rudy Giuliani! In 1994, he endorsed Mario Cuomo, only to see Cuomo go down in flames to George Pataki. Rudy has been much more of a Republican party activist since then.

If you read the article, you will see that the Hispanic vote brought Bloomberg in.. That figures.. All of my Hispanic friends are Conservative. Finally, the brainwashing is washing away, and the smart Hispanics see through this liberal bunk!

Granted, Bloomberg isn't the ideal Conservative, but hey, he is better than Green, or Dinkins, by a LONG SHOT!

Say what you like about Mr. B being a RINO, but he runs a great company, gets terrific work out of his people and is an awesome manager.

No one is going to change New York's liberal attitudes towards the way people live, reprehensible as some of those activities and passions may be. It would be like pushing string or preaching in Sodom. But in some ways, that's one of the great thing s about this city -- you can still do pretty much anything you like. Golly, I can even advocate free markets in bars full of Democrats and nobody thinks its any more weird than sniffing bicycle seats. That's how tolerant we New Yorkers are.

. The thing the city needs is a good, honest, beholding-to-nobody manager. The schools need to be fixed. There can be no more Dinkins-style racial indulgences. The cops have to be kept honest and active. The health inspectors need to be reminded that they shouldn't take bribes from restaurant owners, nor should elevator inspectors, building inspectors, or sanitation officers shake down citizens.

Give New York its head, and it goes to hell in a hurry.

If the Bloomberg News Service is any indication, the soon-to-be mayor can supply that guidance.

And my property taxes probably won't go up, either.

Well, it's late...it's been an interesting night and I'm sure all the morning show bright-eyed talking heads will ANALyze the events of the night before to the nth degree and ultimately predict that all this means that W. is going to lose control of the House and more Senate seats, and, coincidentally, the next dogcatcher in Helena, Montana, is also going to be a Democrat (because Democrat coat-tails are always longer and stronger than Republican ones).

Tonight, I go to bed knowing that tomorrow Clinton CANNOT boast that HIS campaigning elected HIS friend...I take comfort that, at this point, there will not be four years of Green's monotonous droning at some daily news conference standing beside his-new-best-friend Bill. Thank heavens for small favors.

Checked out DU thread. Fascinating. But I, too, am curious how Bloomberg went from 1,000 ahead to 41,000 ahead (according to CNN) as the last half or third of the vote came in. Anybody have any insight?

The sudden late surge would probably because the precints in whitelandia -- staten island, queens, the nicer parts of the bronx -- reported in after the rest. They were no doubt late because the people in those locales actually work for a living and could vote only when they returned home.

I gave up on New York politics after that brazy bunt (I ban't type "b") Hillary Clinton won the senate seat last year.

But I saw sh*tball Bill Clinton with his arm around Green this morning in a photo op, practically humpin' the guy, and I couldn't give a flying f**k who Green OR Bloomberg is, I'm against Green because of that. Anybody who would let that sh*t-for-breath Clinton get close enough for a photo op on election day, without denouncing him publicly right there and then, will be on my list of Clinton c******ers. And we already got plenty of them.

Though all of you say Bloomberg is just slightly better, I didn't see fatf**k X42 sticking his tongue in Bloomberg's ear like he did Green this morning. Plenty enough for me to make my choice...

Thanks for the info. On DU they were counting on the Bronx and another DEM stronghold to pull them ahead. Their disappointment was touching, and their surety that something nefarious had been pulled off a la Florida was amusing.
