Vietnam has 41,030 people who have tested positive for HIV, a health ministry official said Monday. As of the end of September, 6,138 people were known to have AIDS while another 3,372 had died from the disease since the first HIV case was detected in 1990. The official said 7,047 people were found to be HIV-positive in the first nine months of this year, while there were 941 new AIDS patients and 521 deaths from the disease during the period. About 60 percent of the confirmed HIV patients are drug users. The government spends about $4 million a year to fight AIDS. The money is being used to buy test kits, ensure safe blood transfusions and raise public awareness.

One percent of all the pregnant women in India's capital are HIV-positive, according to the Indian Academy of Pediatrics. It is feared that up to 30 percent of children born to these women will get infected with the virus. Due to the urgency of the situation, the academy organized a two-day National Conference on Pediatrics HIV/AIDS beginning Saturday. Representatives of the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the National AIDS Control Organization and UNAIDS will attend the conference, along with about 300 doctors from India and abroad.

What a great time it is to practice monogamy.

This is a direct consequence of tolerating a large quantity of HIV in the population. More virus in circulation equals more oportunity for mutation. Perhaps HIV will eventually mutate into a hardier form that can survive airborne transmission. It could kill billions. US health policy on HIV is immoral. we need to use whatever measures to stop the spread of this virus. How many non-drug using /non-promiscuous people have died in the name of HIV tolerance?

What drug company could afford the research for new aids drugs now that it has become obvious that their property will be immediately seized, so that it can be made cheaply.

Let's get a few things straight (instead of homo!) HIV does NOT, I repeat NOT, cause AIDs, and AIDs is NOT, I repeat, NOT a sexually tranmitted disease.
A virus is a foreign protein. The test for HIV doesn't elucidate the retrovirus, it only detects a lingering antibody to the long since departed active virus.
Do what so many homosexuals do and get a grip on yourself. A virus doesn't know that you're a male or female, young or old, homo or straight. By now, every heterosexual in the world should be infected or dead!
Stop and think for a moment. How do you acquire an immune deficiency? How can one harmless retrovirus cause over forty different diseases? Why would any doctor give someone with an immune deficiency a DNA chain terminator, a drug so toxic it had been abandoned by BW?

Their findings suggest the much-feared increase in drug-resistant forms of HIV is beginning to take root with a strain that has an in-built capacity to resist treatment with AZT, the principal anti-Aids treatment.
How long is this pathetic and insidious fraud going to be perpetrated on humanity. HIV has always been AZT- resistant, in that any person that starts taking AZT, HIV positive or otherwise, immediately starts developing immuno-suppression and related diseases and eventually dies. This is because AZT systematically destroys human cells. The HIV virus has not been demonstrated to cause anything. Even the HIV tests only indicate the presence of antibodies which coorelate to numerous conditions unrelated to the presence of HIV (i.e. there's not even a test in existence that reliably indicates the presence of the virus, which has not been shown to be the cause of anything, anyway.)

So, HIV is becoming like a BORG-virus; adjusting to whatever you are trying to use to kill it.

This is nothing that an immediate and effectively administered quarantine of the infected can't solve.
How many hundreds of thousands of prematurely dead people would be alive today if we had the guts and good sense to do the one thing that really needed to be done back when the numbers of infected were few?

ANN ARBOR, MI - Absence of a genetic mutation that protects people from HIV infection could be a major factor responsible for the current AIDS epidemic in sub-Saharan Africa, according to a new model developed by University of Michigan scientists. "The critical mutation is in the gene for a receptor molecule called CCR5, which the HIV virus uses to infect immune cells in its human host," says Denise Kirschner, Ph.D., an associate professor of microbiology and immunology in the U-M Medical School.
"People with two copies or alleles of this mutation are almost completely protected against HIV," explains Kirschner. "Those with one mutated and one normal copy can be infected, but they carry lower levels of the virus and take two years longer, on average, to develop AIDS. People with two normal copies of the CCR5 gene are most susceptible to HIV infection."
Previous studies by other scientists found that the CCR5 mutation is much more common in people of European descent than in African or Asian populations. So Kirschner and her colleagues developed a mathematical model to test their hypothesis that the prevalence of CCR5 mutations can limit the spread of AIDS in an entire population. Results of the model were published in the August 21 on-line edition of the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences.

Mark my words, this will somehow be W's fault. We will soon be hearing cries of stopping the war to use the money for AIDS drugs.

This is obviously an American strain of HIV that has been amped up by home grown super-nazi-terrorists bent on reducing the democratic gene pool.
