The differance between a liberal and a conservative is that a conservative is a liberal who's been mugged. It is true though that the best republicans have been former democrats. Look at Ronald Reagan and Bret Shundler, hell I'll begrudgingly even note Rudy Guillani.(though he is anything but conservative).
