PARIS (Reuters) - Nearly half the French public believes the four-week-old U.S. military action in Afghanistan is failing, a poll released Sunday showed.
The survey by pollsters Ipsos for the Journal du Dimanche weekly showed 47 percent thought the campaign was failing, with just 17 percent confident of success.
The remainder of the 969-head sample, interviewed on November 2, gave no response or said the outlook was unclear. No definition for what constituted success or failure was given.

But I thought you were the Beautiful Merciless Lady who stood above all other posters in a certain elevated milieu, offering judgment upon the imperfections of knowledge of those who do not know history! If you reject the offered comparison, as is your right, then I shall have to expend effort on some other humorous point of reference. Basically, I recognize a keen mind when I see one.

Please note that Chinese and English are the most spoken, merely by population numbers. However please review the following:
"In the category of megalanguages, with one hundred million or more (100,000,000) speakers each, are four further languages or pairs of languages: Japanese and Malay+Indonesian in Asia and the Pacific, German in Europe, and French throughout the world. French is notable for several reasons. It is the only language apart from English with important representation in all the continents of the world. It is the official language of more nation-states than any other language, apart from English, and has unique prestige as the world's second "global" language, in spite of its relatively modest number of primary or "native" speakers (around 60,000,000, concentrated largely in western Europe and Quebec
I would also suggest a review of your English dictionary to obtain a grasp of the number of French idioms that are a part of universal vernacular, especially our own.

We should definitely listen to the French cheese eating surrender monkeys. After all - who knows more about failure in war than they do. Well, thank you for such a SWANKY comment. It may be interesting to note that Anericans eat over 7 1/2 billion pounds of cheese. How shameful that the French and other European countries developed this wonderful addition to our cuisine.

A REALISTIC VIEWPOINT? You may want to look at another perspective. I wish our military had this backing in the former administration.

The French are the French, and their press is really not our problem. Let'em squawk. They like to, but as long as they back this thing...and their butts are also on the line...just keep rolling. We must be breaking something with all our bombs. Who cares what they say to pose to their own people. Let's see what they do. They whine a lot, philosophize, write, posture...so what. We won't stop them. If they back off and betray us, we kick their human a$$ too, somehow. There are ways. People like foreign trade...especially ours. Let's keep our hands on the plow, and our eyes on the work. Let the dogs on the sidelines bark. Sticks and stones. We ARE hurting people. We will get the job DONE eventually, one way or another, or another after that. Armchair quarterbacks have time to look at their watches. We don't know what our troops are doing right now, or next. Soldier on. It ain't over till it's over. Who cares what the peanut gallery thinks. They just better know we're watching them, and everyone, too...from now on. Rolling.

I will when you get over your inherent Dutch delusion that you are anything less than perfect. Go away little boy; you annoy me.

The survey by pollsters Ipsos for the Journal du Dimanche weekly showed 47 percent thought the campaign was failing...du Dimanche(Sunday) is a communist rag anyway, so why believe them to begin with. Beign from Europe and lived in France for quite sometime, I can tell you for certain that the French can not stomach the Yanks under any circumstances, no matter what.
They have a deep rooted aversion against us since WW2, whereby we had to save their sorry asses from the Germans because they were to impotent to defend themselves. We did it again in the Vietnam War as well with Panama Canal. So no matter what we doing, it is not going to be good enough for the French, since they have lost the world hegemony on international issues(all those French colonies, remember, and none left?)
And than is the language issue...Internet, they are all bent out of shape that french language is not part of the Internet. Remember the stink they raised about using english as the sole lingo for the Internet and quickly passed a law in France requiring everyone in France to use French on the Internet?
They want to be on par with the US, but no cigars. That's the real reason the French are such a whores in my oppinion. They can not, in their pompousness and arrogance, phanthom, the fact that USA is the only superpower militarily and economically left on this planet.
The only thing I like about the French are the beautifull Ladies, the wine, the food and the country. Oh!...not to mention the rich History and all the land marks.

The french should steer clear of war strategy opinions and stick to what they do best - make pastry and sit on their fat stuffy arrogant asses!
Watch how the big dogs fight, you lilly pad leapers!
I have read that France is a "hotbed" for terrorists groups!!don't know for sure.

You can't stand someone not agreeing with you, can you? Grow up, silly boy. I'm not a boy. Maybe you have boys named Allegra in Holland. It wouldn't surprise me. I suppose I should be flattered that you emulate me by using my same phrases, but I'm really merely tired of you. You're obnoxious and disliked. Cease and desist, please.

Well it seems clear to me from the events of the last few days that as I assumed the good old USA was doing things right. I guess what has been unbelievable to me is how short of an attention span some people have. Just over 2 months ago we were attacked with no warning. In the 64 or so days since then we organized our forces, built cooperation with many parts of the world, moved our forces into position and were instrumental in routing the Taliban without putting our people in harms way very much. Sounds like a fast operation to me and not the least bit necessary to have put large amount of ground troops in harms way.
Way to go USA!
