Since the American CIA works closely with Pakistani ISI, now more than ever, is this a declaration of war on India?

I should think that remote-controlled airplanes operate on known frequencies ... or they can be quickly scanned with equipment ... it's simply a matter of overpowering such ... standard ECM technique ... send commands on high-power band to spoof such a device into circling ... anyone giving commands prior to overpowering can be triangulated ... and the operating range for hand-held transmitters is relatively short ... just a few hundred meters I think (don't have RC aircraft but looked into them in the 1980's) ...
an orbiting Predator can be dispatched with television cameras to investigate triangulated transmissions in a hurry and record the images ...
b*stards are creative though ... we have to stay sharp ...

300 meters? They already have toy rockets and toy guns; no new development program needed.
To: American_Patriot_For_Democracy
How much explosive can be packed into such a device? And if this is the only know method for killing a living target, don't you suppose that any toy planes flying overhead would be a clear signal and anyone under attack would just make certain this attack is avoided when they spot the stupid toys?

The real message in this is not that we have to worry about having to defend against radio-controlled toy airplanes, but that civilization cannot exist in the presence of a critical mass of disrupters. If it isn't toy airplanes, it will be anthrax. If not anthrax, then truck bombs. There is no end to human creativity, and therefore no end to the number of everyday things that can be turned into deadly weapons by people bent on doing such.
We're going to have to kill these people. All of them. We are going to have to start thinking of them the same way we think of cockroaches. It is an ugly thought, and one that sane people will try very hard to resist. But in the end, when the food, the water, the air, and every person for 300 yards around is a deadly threat every single day, people will get sick of it. The day will come when the only option left is to kill them all, just to make it stop. Yes, that's a rant. Let's see how long it takes before it's also the truth. |

Kill who? Just them, or people here?

This past summer OBL was said to be planning the same sort of thing in Genoa or Switzerland. It was supposed to take out Bush. Came from a German paper as I recall. There was a thread or two about it here on FR including comments by yours truly doubting the existence of OBL. Guess I was wrong on that score.

..could not agree more. The metaphor of the cockroaches also occurred to me about a month ago. I also think we need to be more pre-emptive and to begin using the methods that the Russians and Chinese found so efective, i.e. castration, alcohol and pigs blood, the p.c. crowd be dammned.

You're right. I wonder how far we will go? Do we eliminate their immediate families also? Wipe out their genetic line?
They are indeed cockroaches, but it is amazing what people will "accept". People accepted that NYC was a dirty town, filled with pushers and bums until Rudy's cleanup crew arrived.

At the same time it will be open season with no bag limits on people fighting against oppressive governments. They must be terrorists if they are resisting any government. Right?

Well, I used to fly RC and my larger multi engine models could carry up to 15 pounds, while my smaller ones could carry one or two pounds. I'm not quite sure how much bang two pounds of high explosives can deliver, but it's probably not healthy to be standing near it when detonated.
That said, something like this shouldn't be too hard to stop. As anybody who's ever dabbled in RC can attest, when you activate a second transmitter on the same frequency as the RC device, the device will stop responding to inputs. Since the range of the frequency crystals used in the transmitters is fairly narrow, it shouldn't be too hard to build some kind of rotating jammer to shut them down at a safe distance.

Since the range of the frequency crystals used in the transmitters is fairly narrow, it shouldn't be too hard to build some kind of rotating jammer to shut them down at a safe distance. This is providing they use standard channels/frequencies allocated to model radio control. If they use "custom" frequencies, there is a need for a scanner to find the frequency and "jammer" capable of immediately coming on this frequency with capability of overriding the remote thing. It will take one incident to happen with response to arm the public meetings with "anti model crews."
What to watch for is that one person would be "launcher" of the plane somewhere outside of target area and another person with remote control close to the target, in the crowd navigating the plane at someones head. It could be obvious, or not, remote could be built to be hidden in the pockets, etc. Direction finding equipment would allow to pinpoint the "controller", question is how fast the "cleanup" crew can get to it or jam it (those little things are fast).

Yes, that's a rant. Let's see how long it takes before it's also the truth. It already is the Truth. Well said.

We should have known this would happen after they deployed the "Great Crayon of Death" earlier

mega--Dittos to Nick @ # 7: "We're going to have to kill these people, all of them.."
The range of estimatges I have sen and read about is thtat there are only between 1,000 and 10,000, with the most common estimate being 5,000 of these terrorists worldwide.(!!)
This means that if we kill about the ssame number of highly-targeted individuals over the next four yeaars who were killed in fifteen minutes on 9/11/01, then the world, with its 6 BILLION inhabitants, is a better, safer, freer, more prosperous, happier place than with this miniscule but immeasurably dangerous, gang of 5,000 or so terrorists from such organizations as Hamas, Hizbollah, Islamic Jihad, al Q'aeda, and about three or four orther terrorist organizations.
P.S.: Saddam Hussain, Iran, Syriia's & Sudan's sponsorship of State Terrorism need to be STOPPED!!
Saddam's survival is NOT (= NOT!!) an option if we are to abolish the larger part of terrorism and prevent assasinations of our top leaders and avoid NUCLEAR-CHEMICAL-BOLOGICAL catastrophe.
DEATH to SADDAM!
To: Nick Danger
We're going to have to kill these people. All of them. Actually, you only have to kill about 10% of them, or roughly 2 million Pashtuns (1 million in Afghanistan and 1 million in Pakistan).
The 10% ratio was used by the Romans to discipline unruly or cowardly Legions. It's also roughly consistent with the more recent historical practice of Stalin and Mao.
