I saw one at the Fort Lauderdale Show. The pilot was a local boy from Hollywood, Fl and he put on a good show. He flew in straight from the ocean and hovered over the water at about 100 feet. At this point, he was only 100 feet from the shoreline!

He then rotated 360. Aimed north and took off. I will never forget the vortex in the waves from the downward thrust.

We had real good "seats" in the sand - right at the oceans edge.

It's a great show in Fort Lauderdale. They started them 5-6 years ago and each year is bigger & better. Usually around May of each year, I think.

The first year of the show, the Blue Angels' flight plan took them right over our house. I was mowing the grass and so I couldn't hear them until they were right on top of me. I about crapped my pants, although the loudest plane I ever heard was the F-4 Phantom, the ground support workhorse in RVN.

Semper fi!
