Men face extinction, says BMJ report
Men may be in danger of extinction because of sperm banks, fertility treatment and human cloning.
A report in the British Medical Journal claims attitudes to the role of men in society may also hasten their demise.
Professor Seigfried Meryn says men already have higher rates for all major causes of death, shorter life expectancy and women can now do their jobs just as well.
Professor Meryn, who will speak at the First World Congress on Men's Health, says: "There is a sustained increase in psychological disorders in men, including alcohol and substance abuse, mid-life crisis, depression and domestic violence, while men's increasing aggression also remains an unsolved health and societal problem.
"Over 30 wars and conflicts rage around the world are, mostly created, maintained and aggravated by men."
Professor Meryn says there is speculation about the continued existence of the gender. He says: "With the advent of sperm banks, in-vitro fertilisation, sex sorting techniques, human cloning and same-sex marriages, it is reasonable to wonder about the future role of men in society."
The professor believes the launch of initiatives such as the International Society for Men's Health, the European Men's Health Forum and Men's World Day, tomorrow, will help the problem.
Dr Ian Banks, president of the European Men's Health Forum, said men worry about their health but feel unable to talk about it until it is often too late, reports the Daily Mail. They can find attending a general practice surgery difficult and they often find it "male unfriendly".
Anyone care to contest this assertion? Well, I will. All the women that I know hold grudges better than any man,
and will start a grudge at the drop of one inappropriate comment.
In contrast, when men have a disagreement, all it takes is, "Ya want another brew?", and you're best buddies again.
Besides, if you don't have your men fight and win the war, the stronger men from the other side come to dominate the women.

Methinks that, like Mark Twain, the rumors of our demise are greatly exaggerated.
First, you'd have to find women willing to contribute to their own elimination. Do you think they'd be as willing to do so as men?
Second, you'd still need someone to carry the baby for nine months.

Men have a higher suicide rate. More men are imprisoned. Almost every disease has a male predilection.
These are all signs of oppression. These same indicators are found in all oppressed minorities.
These are signs of oppression of the male minority by the female majority.
This isn't difficult to believe since most sex selection is probably attempted by couples. Most guys still want a son.
If you look at overseas adoption, however, you will find a number of single mothers adopting girls. If it ever got to the point that large numbers of single women could choose to have say....one child, I'd be willing to bet that most would want girls.
Yes, but you still need a womb for the baby to grow in, unless they come up with a way to grow them completely in a lab.
It's never gonna happen, anyway. Heterosexual women will never want men to disappear. The differences between the sexes is what makes life interesting!
