Saying women shouldn't fight is like saying that women shouldnt learn, or show thier face. What are we, the Taliban? If a woman wants to fight, let her fight. Land of the Free, Home of the Brave. What if a free woman wants to be brave and fight for her country? Bad move by the Bush Administration IMHO.

Woman should not be in combat. 99% of woman do not have the physique for it. Nor the mental capabilities for war. Mentally remember for a moment the different reactions you all felt after 9/11. and the reactions of people around you.
many (not all) many woman would say things like "we need to think about peace now" or "we dont want more people to die" or "waht if questions " on the other hand most men (And i mean most as in 90%) where mad and wanted to start fighting right now. That right there is a prime reason why men are sent to war and woman are not.....EMOTIONS

Females just don't measure up.
There are a few wo-men who can grow beards, belch and flatulate like a man, but the military is not a traveling side show.

When I went through basic training we had an all female platoon in our company. One day when we were marching to a rifle range, they had us double-time it. When we arrived at the range, we noticed that the entire female platoon had drop out of the run.

When I was getting out the Army I failed a PT test. I felt embarassed, ashamed. A couple of my female Army buddies were talking about how well they did on their PT tests. My failure outdid their excellent scores.

If the Army would be allowed to have normal training instead of the current watered down version. And Women were required to meet the same standards as the men. There wouldn't be any debate about women in combat, because so few women could make it.

Last time I saw a women "fit for combat" she had a small cigar hanging out of her mouth, a tatoo on her arm, a butt the size of New Hampshire, and an attitude about men that would put a rabid pit bull to blush.

When she mentioned something about "carpet munching" I figured it was time for me to find another place at the bar...

Yes, there is a place for women in combat, and this women could fill several of them (including mine).

American Women at War

Take all American women who are within five years of menopause - train us for a few weeks, outfit us with automatic weapons, grenades, gas masks, moisturizer with SPF15, Prozac, hormones, chocolate, and canned tuna - drop us (parachuted, preferably) across the landscape of Afghanistan, and let us do what comes naturally.

Think about it. Our anger quotient alone, even when doing standard stuff like grocery shopping and paying bills, is formidable enough to make even armed men in turbans tremble.

We've had our children, we would gladly suffer or die to protect them and their future. We'd like to get away from our husbands, if they haven't left us already. And for those of us who are single, the prospect of finding a good man with whom to share life is about as likely as being struck by lightning.

We have nothing to lose.

We've survived the water diet, the protein diet, the carbohydrate diet, and the grapefruit diet in gyms and saunas across America and never lost a pound. We can easily survive months in the hostile terrain of Afghanistan with no food at all!

We've spent years tracking down our husbands or lovers in bars, hardware stores, or sporting events...finding bin Laden in some cave will be no problem.

Uniting all the warring tribes of Afghanistan in a new government? Oh, please ... we've planned the seating arrangements for in-laws and extended families at Thanksgiving dinners for years ... we understand tribal warfare.

Between us, we've divorced enough husbands to know every trick there is for how they hide, launder, or cover up bank accounts and money sources. We know how to find that money and we know how to seize it ... with or without the government's help!

Let us go and fight. The Taliban hates women. Imagine their terror as we crawl like ants with hot-flashes over their godforsaken terrain!

Got this on my e-mail. A little too anti-male for me, but the spirit is good.

"Some Pentagon officials are fearful of the American public reaction if a female pilot were shot down over Afghanistan. The only female pilot publicised so far is "Mumbles", a British-educated 26-year-old with an F14 Tomcat squadron based on the aircraft carrier Carl Vinson."

Above statement not accurate.

Good article and real facts and regulations about the women we have in combat during this war.

Wow. I guess there's a difference between Democrats and Republicans, children and adults, politically correct and correct....
Thank God for George W. Bush and the American people that were smart enough to elect him.
Daddy's little girl won't be coming home in a body bag under this President.

If women choose to fight *and* meet the same standards as men for the particular field, I see no reason why they shouldn't serve in combat roles. Look at it this way -- they have to go through a lot more resistance to reach their goals and will appreciate it more and be more dedicated to doing the job properly.

I do not mean this disrespectful but it has always been known that their is a difference in gender and men and women are not intended to be here for the same purpose. But in saying that what is the military now to do since this notion has been advanced by the liberals and the female gender has gained a lot from it at the expense of males in the military. If we are to do what is right and prove that women are equal to the task we must put them in harms way like the men. This is an experiment whos time has now come.NOW wanted it,now let us see if it can really work.Who knows maybe women will even be better than men in combat especially those who wanted to try.

Please, let it be so. I know a military woman, a single mother, of a perfect little baby girl. A couple of female higher-ups continue to verbally torture this young woman with threats of "deployment" to the heart of trouble in Iraq. This woman is the only parent to her baby. Lord, hear my prayer.
