I've been collating a lot of information over the last few weeks and have a suspicion about a highly probable next major attack. First off, attacking bridges just aint their style. not enough financial impact in that. At least not at the Stock market level. Now if you want to know what they like, they like to short stock and destroy S&P businesses. We still don't have an answer to stock manipulation on the short side. It's not really that manageable. Too many outlets to cash out.
The Al Queda are sophisticated in their theory of how to destroy America and it involves destroying America's economic base. They like to watch the stock market lose value, one sector at a time. My guess as the likely target factoring everything I have read and heard is this:
Involving Southern Florida --> check
Involving multiple aircraft (one is bound to get through air defense) --> check
Involving aricraft bought in the bahamas (not traceable like US sales and there have been missing aircraft) --> check
Involving tanker truck or hazmat --> check
Involving spent plutonium --> check
Involving a heavily traded S&P stock -->check
Involving Bert and Ernie connection --> check (yes it isn't a direct connection but if it was, we would be on defcon 5 for the area I am thinking of). Think kids check
I hope our government is patrolling the atlantic skies off southern florida in a huge way. I also hope they are protecting Disneyworld. I could see 3 or 4 small planes and a couple of trucks causing a pretty big ash cloud with plutonium mixed it. Imagine the psychological damage caused by making Disneyworld uninhabitable for about 10 years.
Not the mention the sackful of short money they would make out with. These monsters want to use our systems against us.
The point is simple. War is hell.
Take your worst assumptions about war and multiply them 100 times. You have still not approximated the horrors of modern mano-e-mano combat.
That said, the cruel hoax is that everything you do to "humanize" war or make it less horrible only serves to prolong the conflict. That prolonged conflict only results in more deaths on all sides.
In 3 wars, we have tried to pare down the conflict so the other side will "understand" our position.
We have found that the only enemy soldier who learns the wisdom and and longevity of our position is a dead ememy soldier!!!
Tough, but true. It's called reality!
I'm just wondering if we begin consider foreign citizens legitimate targets, will we have any moral authority to complain if the same is done to us?
If purposely targeting citizen non-combatants is the definition of terrorism, and we do just that, are we not terrorists?
And please, FReepers, no flames. This is a legitimate question. I'm no sympathizer of theirs, and I think they deserve what they get. I am merely questioning the intentional targeting of non-combatants. Once they take up arms, they are no longer non-combatants, and are fair game.
There is a huge difference between the Afghani who is killed when a bonb hits his home next to the anti-aircraft missile site, and 500 people working at the World Trade Center. For us to refuse to attack that AAA site because it is in a residential area is strategic suicide. It would prolong the war for all, and therefore kill more on both sides.
The people who worked in the WTC were different. They had no involvement in the war, nor was the hit in the WTC a miss from an attack on some other legitimate military target.
It is time for OBL and his lieutenants to die for their radical psychotic offshoot of Islam. We can help them accomolish that goal. As our Preisdent said, that is the just fate for OBL supporters too.
Let's hope so... if it is,
it's about time!!!
Our Governor Lawton Chiles died shortly after Jeb beat the democratic opponent Buddy McKay. McKay served as governor for about a month because he was the Lt. Gov. when Chiles died and therefore, McKay swore Jeb in.
Walkin' Lawton didn't like security detail when he worked out; he was all alone when he died, in the gym from a heart attack and they found him by an exercycle. We had three governors in a short time span. I thought you might want to know this factual tale.
The Port of Miami is known as the "Cruise Capital of the World." It is home to 17 cruise ships, and has the largest year-round cruise fleet in the world. The Port also handles more "megaships" - vessels capable of transporting more than 3,000 guests - than any other port in the world. Carnival Cruise Lines, Norwegian Cruise Line, and Royal Caribbean International all operate exceptional cruise vessels from the Port of Miami. In fiscal year 2000, more than 3.3 million passengers used the Port.
Airline flights from all over the world converge to fill the cruise ships. A hit on the cruise lines, is a hit on the airlines, a hit on tourism, and related industries (food, liquor, etc.) not only for the US but for all the countries they visit!
In fiscal year 2000, the Port of Miamis estimated impact on the community was $8 billion and 45,000 jobs. Miami is in the top ten container ports in the U.S. The Port of Miami has more than 40 shipping lines calling on 132 countries and 362 ports around the world. Of these, 26 carriers serve 33 countries and 101 ports in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC).
We also have an abundance of asian and german ships that are not reflected in the online statistics but that I have observed in my daily drive by on the way to work. Some of the wealthiest people in the world have homes on the islands adjacent to the port. And, lastly, Miami's financial district, 10 minutes from the port, is a substantial hub for Latin America/US banking.
To suggest that a post is a tinfoil hat post, implies that it is a paranoid delusional conspiracy theory or a technically ridiculous bit of drivel unworthy of serious consideration.
Ipso facto,"Tinfoil hat"="OWK"
Hopefully our intel let's us stop "next time", BEFORE it happens!
Then, after we've nuked the source, the gov't lays out the evidence to support the completed strike.
