There were people with costumes in Greenwich Village this evening, but the great majority of people out on the streets were not in costume. And those that were in costume were very different from the bizarre and scary costumes that were typical in the past few years. No vampires dripping with blood, or dominatrixes with chains, or anything like that. Street vendors were selling an item in Astor Place: red plastic horns with little winking lights in them. But their boxes still seemed to be pretty full. I imagine the parade will be way down this year--which isn't a bad thing, IMHO.

Had more kids here than last year by about 33 percent.
My son is not eating any Halloween candy right away. I bought him his favorites...skittles and starbursts, and we will hang onto the Halloween candy for a few days to make sure no kids get sick.
Then I got dibs on the Tootsie Rolls.

I've had fewer than usual, but my next-door neighbor is having a huge adult party - lots of cars are parked on the street in front of my house, which I think is keeping folks away.
On the bright side - I bet I'm the only freeper whose child went trick-or-treating at Katherine Harris's house - and Katherine is home. As soon as my daughter gets home I'm gonna eat some Katherine Harris candy!(Secretary Harris - if you're a lurker, the cute little Annie Oakley was my girl!)

Just a bad joke told by a bad comedian last year ... get over it ...

We're north of Philly.... turn out was poor... last year I probably had over 200 kids, ran out of candy - this year I am stuck with tons of candy..... It was very sad...

I made plans to give away little airplane size bottles of Cuervo Tequila to the kids. That way if no one shows up.... Address please... lol.

we've had only two trick or treaters and they were the children of our friends in the neighborhood.

My cousins used to do Trick or Drink. They would bring their kids to my dad's house and cut them loose in the neighborhood while they drank my dad's Scotch.

I almost ran out of razor blades (/joking off)
(/bad taste off too) Haha, don't apologize, that was funny! Got a much-needed laugh.
TLBSHOW: not many crumb-crunchers hit our house this year. I'd say business was down about 60%. Of course it didn't help that our town chose to tear up the whole block's sidewalks and curbs today.

I was glad that in my area Halloween happened. It was a positive break from all the alerts and the kids and I had some fun. :)

Thanks ... I felt like I broke wind loudly in church ... Actually it's 6:08 and not one trick or treater.

We have had more trick or treaters than usual and it is so much fun to see them dressed up. The junior high crowd is very polite this year.
I'm waiting for about 15 14 and 15 year olds to return to my house soon. I love seeing them have so much fun together.

My little girl had a bumblebee outfit (complete with stinger)
She's only 16 months old, so she's really too small for trick-or-treating, but we went to my parents' house.
She greeted all the kids at the front door. Very cute!

I just walked outside and looked up and down the street ... not one person is out there. I live on a semi busy street in a very nice neighborhood where I don't even bother to lock my house or my car AND not one trick or treater.

"So how was your Halloween with the alert warnings?" Pretty slow. Had a couple of small rushes, but nothing like it usually is in this neighborhood. They're having a fall festival at a church in the subdivision and I suppose that's where most of the lil' critters ended up. Next ones that come to the door, if any, are going to get a few pounds of candy (each) and then I'm closing up shop.
[sigh]

We have had more than usual here in Denver.
Happy Halloween
