Wonder if the terrorists have sent out a slew of leaky anthrax envelopes to invalid addresses, just to contaminate post offices without getting caught. I suspect the releases were unplanned. What's in those envelopes is very nasty stuff. The reason we're seeing more cases is just that we're on the up-slope of a fairly shallow bell curve. When and if the "real thing flies," we won't be dealing with a case or two a day. Count on it.

no way...the jet fuel fire would have killed any anthrax on the planes

Different incubation periods, different exposure times? And different people having better resistance.

I can't imagine how jumpy we'd all be if this were a smallpox outbreak I would "jump" right into the old 4wd, grab some food, good coats, etc., ammunition for the etc., and head for the Davis Mountains.

No, I don't think so..I think the new case revealed today was a cutaneous case in NJ.

"I am waiting for those reactions to really kick in with those workers and people who were down there and live there." I think they already have something called WTC syndrome.

He did offer explanation. Not word for word, but he said the reason was so the hospital personell showing up for work tomorrow would have a head start on what was going to happen.

This is probably silly, but was thinking about that baby with anthrax. Didn't a terrorist's passport somehow get found in the rubble? Or was that a rumor? And if so, if that survived, got flung away from the plane, so could maybe a container with anthrax in it. The spores eventually sift down to ground level, and a few (let's hope a few) unlucky souls come in contact. Far-fetched? Maybe I'm just too tired.

Someone who unsuspectingly cuts open an envelope full of this stuff is more likely to get a lungful than someone in a post office... or so I'd think. These cases don't seem to be appearing. We'd do well to have Dead Letter Offices checked.
If this keeps up, pretty soon all mail pickup will have to be done in hazmat suits, before the stuff is hauled to the irradiation machines.

Me and a friend own a hunting camp in the hills (of Kentucky). If there is a smallpox outbreak I'm gonna round up my whole family and head for the hills. NO JOKE. The vaccinations we all received as children are no longer viable and antibiotics will offer no aid against that virus.

Not to worry. Anthrax spores are quite sensitive to incineration in a jet fuel fire....

I was just thinking on impact really. I know your theory makes sense but some of that plane was still intact and if those vials were in steel cases or whatever...who knows? Oh screw it. I hear the water in the Hudson is testing all kinds of bad right now and so is the air. Bad times for NY right now.

Unplanned? Stuff which happened to rub off from envelope to envelope? It seems to be showing up in well-separated places.
To: AmericanGurl
strange to hold a press conference, covered by all news networks, just to notify the employees.
We shall see, I worry more about something like eboli.

Sorry, if there had been any Anthrax in the ruble there would be many rescue workers with some form of the disease (inhaled or cutaneous). At the very least there would be workers with the cutaneous form due to all the cuts and scrapes they would have suffered.

It's coated so it stays in the air for a long period. The spores are so small, they can even pass through the weave of paper, apparently.
