Further proof that the attacks had nothing to do poverty in arab countries but were consistent with beliefs of Islam.

"Most of the hijackers.....were bound by family ties"

If it impossible to dissuade terrorists, who think that they are getting to Allah by express, perhaps
if they knew their families would suffer in their places it might give them second thoughts.
It's not nice, but these are not nice times.

So are they going to change the high school curriculum that teaches hate the Christians, hate the Jews? or are they going to try to inflict another generation on us?

Rather than being hired "muscle" or terrorists posing as Saudis with false identities, as previously thought, an investigation has revealed a close-knit group that had links stretching back many years.

Now I'm getting really confused. Who the he## am I supposed to believe these days?

The bond firm that was decimated was full of family members and people who married each other.

Saudis are like Doritos: "They'll make more".
There is only one way to keep these events from happening again.
Hint: it's not bombing just Ashcanistan.
Level Saudi Arabia so that not even the sand fleas live there anymore and Osama's mama can't make more.
The added benefit would be that Osama and his Al Qauida network would dry up and Ashcanistan would become of no further threat.

Of course, this is only radical imaginations from the radical mind of RadicalRik

Hijackers were from wealthy Saudi families

So why are we bombing the hell out of poor Afghani peasants? Oh yeah, I forgot: it's because we are so good.

"The Saudi ruling family has been so disturbed at the scale of the involvement of some of its citizens that it has given a team of FBI agents unprecedented access to interviews with suspected detainees and they have been allowed to collect statements from relatives and acquaintances of the hijackers.(I thought we had been hearing the opposite, huh)"Doubt it. Saudis weren't cooperating. Now they are spinnin that they were.

Sub-text--if the "scale" was smaller, the ruling family would not cooperate.--"unprecedented," meaning, they are cooperating to a degree at least, which is new. Saudis did not cooperate before, as with the Khobar barracks bombing.

So nice to have the Saudis allow us to investigate a crime.

Interesting. I strongly believe the Saudis had advance knowledge of, if not direct involvement in, the events of September 11. On September 10, an article appeared in the Saudi state-sponsored newspaper Al-Riyadh, with the following:

Excerpt:

The state-guided Saudi press Monday slammed the administration of President George W. Bush for failing to take action to stop Israeli attacks against the Palestinians.

"Washington does not appear to be sufficiently concerned by the deteriorating situation, which suggests that it is blessing Israel's increasingly aggressive behavior," Al-Jazeera said in an editorial.

The paper said Washington's silence was no longer acceptable, "unless (the approves of the collective killings of the Palestinians."

Al-Riyadh warned the United States and the West in general of the consequences of their support of the "Zionists."

"America and the West provide material, political and military support to the Zionists, because (they believe) there is no threat to their interests in the Arab world," it said in a front-page editorial.

Al-Riyadh, which like other Saudi papers reflects the official view, implicitly called on Arab countries to take retaliatory measures against the United States, which has huge interests in the region, especially in the Gulf states.

"Latent Arab forces that are observing the situation" might react in an unpredictable way if Arab inaction persists at the official level, the daily warned, alluding to Islamist groups. -snip

Funny, the idle rich kids in Saudi Arabia become Islamic Fundimentalist who hate their own country and terrorize the rest of the world, and the idle rich kids in America become Marxist econuts who terrorize the world and become violent protestors at any international meeting. Things that make you go hmmmmmmmmm.

It's the Sauids that attacked us-

Osma is Saudi, Sauidi's would NOT let us interview the "alleged ' Kohbar towers bombers, The Saudis refuse to freeze the Al Qeda assests, 14 of the 19 hijackers were Saudis.

Saudis, Saudis, Saudis, Saudis, Saudis, Saudis

Unfortunately we have Oilmen running our country too!

Cheney ran Haliburtun services which is a huge service provider for drilling operations in...(you guesed it) Sauid Arabia!

Saudis, Saudis, Saudis, Saudis, Saudis, Saudis

Our number two priorty after targeting Afghanistan, Sauidi Arabia and Iraq is to develop alternatives to fossil fuels.

Do you think oilmen on either side will ever allow this?

IMHO the problem here is a misunderstanding of the nature of Islam. We have been told we are at war with terrorists. Much of Islam believes we are at war with Islam. Today 10,000 Pakistanis are trying to join the Taliban. How can this be? The answer is partially answered by Paul Johnson (Historian and Journalist and author of Modern Times) in a National Review Online editorial done 15 October 2001.

"Islam is an imperialist religion, more so than Christianity and in contrast to Judaism. The Koran, Sura 5, verse 85, describes the enivitable enmity between Moslems and non-Moslems: 'Strongest among men in enmity to the believers wilth thou find Jews and Pagans." Sura 9, verse 5 adds: 'Then fight and slay the pagans wherever you find them, and seize them, beleaguer them and lie in wait for them in every strategem of war.' Then nations, however mighty, the Koran insists must be fought until they embrace Islam."

Paul Johnson believes, as do I, you cannot explain this away of soften it by modern theological explanations. Christianity has updated itself through the Reformation and the Counter-Reformation, but Islam has not. Islam is a religion of the dark ages and the seventh century. The "true believers" in this theology who are the Taliban and their sympathizers are in the hundreds of millions.

This being said, it is also true the Sunni Moslems are apparently more moderate than the Shia Moslems and both are more moderate as you go up the educational ladder. Notwithstanding this caveat, it is clear that millions of Moslems don't just hate us out of envy or fear but out of the very nature of their religious convictions.
