although the final compiler of Genesis must have been a Jew, he wants us to know that the progeny of Ishmael still has a great destiny. "As for Ishmael, I have heard you; I will bless him and make him fruitful and exceedingly numerous; he shall be the father of twelve princes, and I will make him a great nation" (Genesis 17:20). Interesting with all the Bible references to Ishmael you mentioned you left out this one:
Gen 16:12 And he will be a wild man; his hand will be against every man, and every man's hand against him; and he shall dwell in the presence of all his brethren.

Isn't it interesting that the Bible says that about Ishmael and then says that his descendants would be numerous and blessed. Must be true.. There are so many Muslims and they are blessed with oil.
