I am not part of the Dowd crowd. I criticized GWB that day, and I stand by it. At 11:00 AM the only planes in the air were military cover. There were no others. The White House was the safest place in the nation. I presume that GWB let the panicked SS dictate his moves, but that was a bad decision. In retrospect and after his subsequent performance, it is no big deal, but to me it communicated confusion and hysteria.

Well, I guess you're a jackass too, then. Were airplanes the only concievable threat to the Chief Executive on that day? How do you know that? I know from speaking to people in the White House how it felt to have jets buzzing over at low altitude and being ordered to flee into the Mall on no notice. Was that a bad decision, too?

I criticized GWB that day, and I stand by it. Hey, I registered the domain "theperfectnextmove.com" and have been searching everywhere to find just the right person to be the webmaster. I think you fit the bill. We need someone who may be wrong but who is never in doubt. Are you interested?
